TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 8, 2009 Bottle shared by Glen. Thanks. Poured a hazy orange yellow golden. Nose of caramel, dark fruits, oxidation, cardboard. Flavor pretty similar. This is on its way out but has held up pretty good for 5 years. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Sep 3, 2009 Nice share, Glen! Deep golden orange pour. Thin bubbly white head. Mild caramel and malt. Honey notes. Definite oxidation. Cardboard and rotten apples. Some earthy herb notes. Still not too bad. ucusty (1865), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 3, 2009 Thanks to Glen for sharing! Muddy amber pour. Thin off white head and minimal lace. Caramel, fruit, and light cardboard on the nose. Slightly oxidized mouth-feel. Light acidity. Caramel, herbal notes, and fruit emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 1, 2009 Thanks glen for bringing. Pours a cloudy orange amber with a one finger offwhite head. The nose is sweet and malty, mild oxidation, fruity esters. Smooth on the mouth with a nice caramelly profile, mild leafy hop bite. Held up better than some of the Heavyweights. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 6, 2009 Bottle at BCTC 2009: Murky bronze golden pour with a dense off white film of head. Slightly oxidized aroma- fruity with some apple skin notes, light caramel sweetness and an herbal note. Silky feel with a fruity bitter flavor balanced by caramel malts. The fruitiness is mainly apple and pear skin with paper character. A bit oxidized and past it’s prime, but interesting and rounded. j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Aug 4, 2009
Bottle courtesy of Mary (at least I think it was her that brought it) at BCTC. Pours a hazy brownish apricot color with a thin white head. Oxidized heavily, with some caramel backing it up. Flavor follows the aroma, with more oxidization, caramel, and now some plum tones. Not quite what I imagine it once was, but sadly I never got to taste it at it’s prime, so I’ll have to settle for this.
obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA May 23, 2009 Updated: Aug 17, 2009My first BdG rating: Faint pear aroma. Cloudy golden, no head. Musty pear and orange flavor. Alcohol content quite noticeable, Leaves nothing on the palate. If this is representative of the style, I’m not a fan. Since the brewer is out of business and has been for some time, I’m guessing it is just this beer, I look forward to trying another. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA May 18, 2009 spicy, sweet and fruity like candy it is nicely sweet a bit bright for a farmhouse as is the profile with this one. it is dark and amber as well. moderate in body and a bit syrupy it is nice and not overly done.
