Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

thanks to zeswaft. opaque, orange/brown. like a dark hefe. smells like feet dipped in caramel and toffee. pretty unique. taste is pretty bad. English hop type flavors. doesn’t hide the meek 7.7% abv very well. I have no clue what this beer tastes like. I’m going with fungus. Kinda tastes like a protein shake or something.

smells of fresh potting soil and crushed flowers. Flavor is the same plus pepper. What a terrible beer style. leave to the french to make a pussy-ass flower power beer.

Aroma: Light pleasant citrus aroma. Straw and hops Appearance: Light gold with big belgian style head of foam Flavour: Tastes of floral and spicy hops and alcohol. Light fusel alcohol character but not overpowering. A big beer that is neither dominating nor cloying. A good balance of very complex and big flavours. Finishes light on the palate. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Very carbonated giving it a prickly rather than fluffy mouthfeel. Overall: A good balance of complex flavours, none of which dominate or are overpowering. Finishes slightly acidic.

Thanks to Santa for this one. Body is a amber brown with a thin white head. Aroma is fruity, with cherries, apricots, almost a candy like aroma, also a bit of peanut brittle and toffee show up. Taste is very sweet with caramel, toffee, and alcohol showing up intitally followed by cherries, and a light toffee background. Wonderful beer.

Tasted with Beerdrenched (see previous two entries) This concluded a fantastic evening of wonderful beers supplied mostly by Eric(Beerdrenched). 750ml bottle, 2005 vintage. Unfiltered and golden light to amber upward color scale. Good layer of bone white head. Musty and citrus with caramel aromas. Toffee and corriander with an alcohol burn in the nose. Bitter initial mouthfeel. Lively and tingling. Caramel and cloying. Citrus, straw, bananas, yeast extreme. Still rather lively. Gret mustiness. Yeasty astringency. Apple and berry undertones. Grand!

Thanks to Beerdrenched for sharing this rarity. Also sampled with Sneagrams3 and thegreenroster. Pours orange / light brown with a fizzy and soapy off-white head. The aroma is spicy with light sweetness from the malt that reminds me of sweet tarts. Medium body with good amount of carbonation that is fairly soft. Taste starts with a lager taste with some spices and citrus earthiness. The finish brings in some alcohol and spice. There were flavors in this beer that I wasn’t really able to pin down - quite intriguing. I probably would have enjoyed this more if it was just consumed for enjoyment instead of being analyzed, but since I’ll never see another it was approached in an analytical way.

750 shared with vyvvy, snegrams3 and thegreenrooster. pours dark orange with a sudsy white head. nose is full of fruits and berries-plums. flavors show oxidization and dark fruit. not really all that much complexity. pretty straight forward and doesnt strike me as a biere de garde (maybe i dont know the style enough). some light funk/mold on the nose which doesnt show really in the flavors. palate is soft and somewhat thin. an ok brew and glad i had the chance to try it.

Bottled. Orange coloured. Unclear. Fluffy beige head. Citrus, light spice, fuits and light alchol in the nose. Flavour of berries, fuits, citrus, alcohol and caramel. Very acidic and highly carbonated. Medium bodied. Perly fresh fruits with and the alcohol warming the palate ends this very nice brew. Thanks to Probiere for this.
