Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

Slight gushing to rather small, yellowish fine head over fully hazy orange amber beer. Fine combination of citrus (orange mainly), garden herbs, spices (ginger), farmyard odours. Not to mention quite some malts, pale & lightly coloured. Very balanced flavour profile, tilted towards both sweet (cake-ish) and spicey. Yeast esters, more citrus. After some warming up, the sweet flavours become more deeper, refined, like a good brown cane sugar, but also licorice. Quite burning MF, both from the spicy yeast, as from the present alcohol. A great start for a beery weekend. So far, and seen their sorry closure, finally among the best from Heavyweight IMO. Shame, I could live with this. Thanks to BrianB!

Poured a hazy dark yellow color with a quickly disappearing off-white head. Caramel malty aroma with something odd mixed in. Some tart notes in the aroma also with a hint of incense. Malty sweet caramel flavor and a fizzy mouthfeel.

750ml Bottle. Very strong aroma with a slightly strong alcohol presence blending well with many spices. Full foamy head, clear amber color, very pale. Very bready flavor with many spices mixing in. Almost sour at first but becomes a very nice beer.

Bottle was a gusher despite having not moved in my fridge for a couple months. Poured a straw yellow with a large white head that lasted and laced the glass nicely. Aroma was a complex mix of floral hops and spices. Good medium body went down very easy. Flavor is very complex... yeast, spice, bread, citrus. Very enjoyable... would definitely drink again.

Hazy dark amber. Large, lively, soda like off white top. Musty nose of yeast, soft malt, and earthy hops. Flavor adds sweet and toasty caramel, touch of spiciness, and lightly fruity bread. Very nice. Medium/full body, balanced - bubbly yet soft. Excellent. This bottle courtesy boboski, one more in the stash courtesy of the jolly fat man in the red suit.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, sweetness, and spices. Flavor is sweet, fruit, citrus, and carbonation. Not bad for a style i don’t care for.

Pours a hazy orange amber with an average bubbly off white head that sustained and laced. Aroma of a sweet fruity maltiness, yeast, various spices, and bread. The fruits in the aroma were varied everything from peach, to prunes to apples I was picking up a bouqet of various fruits. Flavor of caramel, yeast, bread, still the various fruits and some hints of pepper. Carbonation if lively on the tongue. A very nice beer...too bad it is gone.
