Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

(05.01.06) One pint, 9.4 oz brown bottle from trade with Thaichile. 7.7% ABV. Poured hazy light amber with large white head. Good carbonation. Sweet malt and spice aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness. Pear, toasty malt and spice flavors. Smooth in the mouth. No funky sour notes. Finished dry with light hop bitterness. Definite alcoholic warmth but well hidden in this eminently quaffable.beer. Delicious. Definitely a work of art. Thanks Thaichile!

what the fuck retiered they just got it in @ my spot. they just should think about it. looks murky apple ciderish piss. scent of grape soda banana spice and orange tang. taste a little spiced and like dead fruit. i bit sour a caramel taste up in that ass dense beer with little carbonation makes it a little uneasy. the carbonation went away the next day (corked). I would like to try on tap.

Well, I’d rather buy an American "French" beer than support the French, and this one was fairly true to the style. Appearance was caramel colored, decent head, nice lacing. The aroma was skunky and grassy straight from the bottle, much like a green European import, kinda nasty. From the glass, not bad, spicy, some sweetness, and some funk. The flavor was comparable, but the pepper got to me, a bit too much, dominating the barnyard wheat tasting base. Mouthfeel was carbonated, nothing special.

Poured from a green 750ml bottle a georgeous roasted pecan leaving a cloudy body with a slight tan head. The nose is sweet, caramel, citrus hop, peach, and honey very complex nose sweet and malty. The taste is sweet on the palate, honey, herbs, and spices. As I take a second whiff some vanilla, oak, with a touch of smokiness. The finish is crisp, carbonated, a little dry and rough with a brush of alcohal in the throat.

Courtesy of Matta <!-- P --> Sugary aroma includes sweet caramel malt and a sharpness that isn’t quite of spicy or carbonation in origin. Very attention getting aroma. Cloudy amber body witha pinky thin white head. Big caramel accented malt fore. Sweet bread and candy flavors are big in the middle and give the beer an easy drinking smoothness. Some yeastyness in the finish and a punch of spiciness.

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & tupalev - courtesy of blankboy. Oh boy - we should’ve had this one earlier in the evening, I was too drunk to make very coherent notes by this point. My text reads "hazy golden-orange, strong yeast aroma, complex flavour of fruit and yeast, good!" So I guess I liked it.
