Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

On tap at Half Time Beverage. Poured a still golden with a small creamy off-white head which dissipated completely. Aroma of banana nut bread, sugary with a touch of cloves. Taste is dry toffee, a bit of spiciness and peppery alcohol. Very little of the banana character so prevalent in the aroma. Fairly full body. Not bad. Not exactly easy-drinking, I don’t think.

mellowed nicely. Easy drink. Looks cidery but isn’t,spot of lemon, pepper, and drop of vinegar, nice retaining white head on light colour. One of their better ones.

Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers, orange). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Rather watery, and not as well made as Balvasienne by a long ways, but nice.

Pours hazy orange with a large head and good lacing. Aroma is very fruity—raspberry, peach, green apple—and tart. There’s a slight mustiness and a little bit of funk. Surprisingly funky flavor, with a dry, bitter finish. Very prickly on the tongue. Good, but maybe too spritzy.

Draft at the Drafting Room, Exton. This one was fabulous. Hazy dark straw pour with medium off-white head. Aroma of spicy florals and black pepper, hopcit, and a fruit medley. The flavor is malty up front, giving way to a lovely spiciness and a slightly malty/sweet finish with more fruit. Great complexity and balance. I’m putting this on my "Buy it every time you see it" list.

Drafting Room in Exton. My favorite b.d.g. so far. Very well spiced with just a touch of hops. The flavor also has a smooth carmel sweetness that really makes it enjoyable.

Bottle. Spiced, dry-ish aroma with some sourish notes and a bit of hoppiness. Some peppers are also present in the aroma. Mildly hazy orange color with a frothy light yellowish head. Spritzy, dry start turning roasted with just a small amount of sweetish caramel in the middle. Finishes with some spiced hops. Bone dry. Horrifically dry for my liking.

Appears a dark orange amber with a huge 6 finger creamy head that fills up in the 24 oz pilsner glass. Tons of carbonation in this one and lots of sticky webbing left behing. Smell is grainy with lemongrass, funky apples, and tangerine with some breadiness and a little bit of butterscotch. Taste is slightly sour with the same odd but likeable aromas. Mouthfeel is prickly and dry in a medium bodied brew. Drinkability is good....weird but good.
