Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

An unclear orange beer with a huge head. The aroma is sweet spicy - with coriander standing out. The flavor is sweet with notes of peaches, overripe oranges, and spices - coriander being most dominant. The best Biere de Garde I’ve ever had.

750ml bottle no date seen. Thanks to The_Beer_God for the bottle. Clear sparkling amber body topped by a large pillowy meringue-like head. The aroma of spices is present during the pour. Also in there is some nice continental malts and hops. Smells quite nice and drinkable. Not outstandingly complex or anything, but just plain yummy. The flavor is interesting. It captures the biere de garde essence fairly well. A bit nutty then I expected. Dry fizzy palate complements the style well. Overall a solid effort.

The wonderful trippy painting did draw me in-usually I see beer art as gimmicks. This is my first bottle of farmhouse beer (I did sip a sample of Southampton Brewing’s biere). As with many bottle-conditioned beers, it was rather hazy looking. Flavor-wise, it seemed aggressive but not overpowering. It is interesting but drinkable. Like the painting, a lot is thrown in but in the end, it isn’t as abstract.

Different. A little bit too off the norm for me, so my perspective was a little bit less than that of my buddies. Very carbonated with a powerful aroma best described as tangy. Lots of spices and flavors which were hard to place and harder to remember.

big 750 ml bottle, thanks to willblake (i believe). quite pale in color with lots of head. no noticeable alcohol despite the 7.1%, with lots of floral and spicy hops. extremely light, clean.

Sugar & spice and everything nice!! There is a potpourri of flavors going on here - malts, hops, sweetness, fruit. A bit on the dry side, but overall an interesting beverage.

on tap at andy’s, a cloudy orange/gold body with a wispy white head. flavor and aroma are both sweet and fruity, hints of peach with a spicy taste on the tail end. interesting mouthfeel, very light and tingly, almost like a sparkling wine not the norm for a beer, although i think this was my first sample of a biere de garde. i definitely will have to acquire some more samples.
