Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

Thoroughly hazed appearance, an appealing orange shade, with a tremendous, creamy off-yellow foam...very nice. aroma is a glorious, lively blend, soft fruit (peach, apricot, orange), light sour must, big time spice...excellent. time to taste...mmm, quite a mouthful, a great big puddle of citrus and spice in the mouth, loads of yeast, warm and alive, tingling texture, full-bodied, long, slightly bitter finish. They’ve got a tasty one here, that reminds me of the best of this style. I like this immensely!

My first real meal out since the kid arrived, went to Mekong with some folks from school. The beer list as usual didn’t disappoint, and I was delighted to find this available. Poured a very hazy amber with orange. Aroma mostly of orange, faint sweet molasses, and a good yeasty note. Flavor matched the aroma, and was remarkably consistent throughout a variety of temperatures, both with and without food. Not terribly complex, but did have some spiciness to add a bit of depth. Nice.

A dark orange appearance. Im sniffing a lot of caramel and molasses. The flavor is table sugar, oranges, and molasses. The aftertaste is a bit of overkill in the sweet and syrupy dept. Overall it has a good flavor but the sweetness is killing it for me.

This was an interesting new style for me to try. Cinnaomn and spices, with a very sweet spiced flavor. Tasted the alcohol and carbonation. purty good but not my favorite style.

750 mL, snifter. Spicy yeast, caramel/hay malt, floral/herbal hops. Hazy amber hue witha a foamy off-white head. Slight alcohol nose. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. Medium-full body, creamy/sticky texture, average carbonation. The bottom line is: too sweet and walnuty for me.

Bottle(not corked). Pours hazed amber. Tall foamy manilla colored head. Nose at first seemed like a skunky European lager, but develops much better. Light hay notes, wafts of fruit, creamy malts, some odd spiciness, and light hop bitterness. Taste is fruity and sweet with creamy maltiness, light grassiness, mild bitter hops, candy sugar, bread dough, light yeastiness and flowers. Pretty good! Body is light-medium with plenty of carbonation. Sort of fizzy at times. Finish is very sweet with light grass and hay along with mild yeast, lots of ripe fruits (apple, nectarines, maybe banana), and some flowery notes. Not too bad!

Poursa cloudy goden hue with a halo of a white head. Aromas of grass, funk, caramel, and a slight sour apple. Flavors of caramel, with a nice hop bitterness.

Grainy nose with some perfumy things going on, gold color and a creamy tight head. Orangy, caramelly malt tastes with some spice (nutmeg, pepper) at the end. Creamy mouthfeel. Full body.
