Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

Courtesy GodOfThunder. Aged about 3 years I would guess. Pours a cloudy, glowing, orange-amber color with a frothy, cream colored head. A soapy wash mostly rejoins the body, though a few spots remain behind to dry. Aromas include a light toffee malt base, with lightly peppery floral hops, musty apples, and dry, bready yeast notes. Flavors show a touch of candy sugar to go along with the toffee, with earthy, peppery hops lending nice balance. Moderate in both body and carbonation, the yeast contributes to the semi-dry finish. This one is pretty nice, and drinks well even at this age.

Pours a cloudy golden brown. Smell is funky, dusty with some honey in the mix. Taste is of apple fruitiness with some honey and sourness. Light mouthfeel. This held up well.

Bottle thanks to TheRealBastard. Hazy amber with fluffy white head. Smell is like a sour. Lemon and cider. Tart, sweet, all sorts of things going on in the nose. Nutty on the front of the tongue. Sweet in the mouth, with some spiciness hiding. The bottom of the bottle warmed up the belly.

750ml. Pour is hazy amber with tons of foamy off white head. Aromas of sweet malt, fruit, and some citrus. Flavor is sweet, smooth, and has a slight sour in the finish. Another awesome brew from HW.

750 via trade a ways back this bottle was burried in the back of the cellar, I know I got one from hopdog. This was a mega mega gusher, not super fast but almost non stop even after pouring a generous glass. Pours cloudy orange with a small head. Nose is sweet and vinious which matches a rich matured beer that hold a lot of character, some fruitty sweetness. Its good but not as complex as I’d like.

4 year old keg at the Earth opening. Thanks Tom! Clear copper with no head. Apple, pear, orange, and citric aroma with some berries, slight dark fruits, acidity, and ginger spiciness. The taste is crazy fruity and funky, with apples, coriander, cloves, spice, acidity, and a pleasant sour finish. Slightly flat, but aside from that, freaking delicious!!

Capped 750, not sure of vintage. Hazed amber with a nice white head. Initially, a tannic scent dominated the nose, a tad sour, but that dissipated after awhile, becoming far less noticeable. Bready and honeylike notes, spicy flavors. May be a tad past prime, but still delish. Well done!
