Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

750 ml bottle @ liquid sunshine tasting - thanks to riversideak; cloudy orange with thin white head; floral aromas with yeast, orange peels and lemons; aromas on the mild side, but flavors pack and rich and tasty punch; a tasty treat for sure

In short: A fruity fluffy cake in a bottle. Quite drinkable but probably too old.
How: Bottle 750ml, vintage, probably about 2 years old. From dmac, another big thanks to my man Dave!
The look: Cloudy golden-orange body topped by a long-lasting small white head
In long: Full fluffy body. Doughy yeast with a lot of mangos, some dried bananas, some cheese, some wheat and some green grass. Rather mild. No bitterness whatsoever. An overall sensation of a of a banana cake with a mangos topping. My bottle was lacking “bite” but I suspect it’s more an age problem than a problem with the beer. As it stands it was a sub-par Heavyweight offering, might be a Beer Of Art but it ain’t the art of beer.

Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a thin head. The aroma very pungent it could be the fact that the bottle was brewed in 2004 and it has been aging for a while. It smells a lot like malted wheat with light fruits with hints of honey and citrus hops. The flavor is nice and smooth with a sour initial taste mixed with honey and apricot funk on the palate. I really enjoy the finish being that it is nice and funky yet still refreshing to the tounge and has a lot of flavor that lasts for a while on the side walls of your mouth.

Pours thick and syrupy to a vibrant, clouded orange hue. Sprucy, sappy, yeasty aroma with dried apple and pineapple, basil, and honey. Synthetic tone of shampoo or other cleaning product permeating. Stinky cheeses and farm air with the warmth. Flavor is lightly bitter with herbs and green spices, and lightly sweet with brown sugar and crusty caramel, never much imposing in any direction but consistently laying back and staying subtle. Soft cardboard tone, soft cedar wood earthiness, and a salient cottony, biscuity texture. Stale apple juice, crisp black pepper, and orange rind in the dry mid palate; mouthfeel is sparkly and fairly dense for the style, though alcohol never suffocates it. Saaz spiciness. Medium to full mouthfeel is dry and sweet with a sugary crunch. Candied nut and fruit sweetness. Finishes with some perfume, cotton candy, and dryness of alcohol. Reveals many layers of complexity throughout; generous and distinctive. Thanks Ty!

750mL bottle, courtesy of yobdoog. Thanks! Pours a murky, orange-brown color; fizzy khaki head that quickly fades to nothing. Dense, caramel and dried fruits in the aroma; generous malt and yeast character with a slight show of oxidation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: solid dried caramel, toffee, and complex yeastiness; plenty of creaminess and toffee-tinged malts; any oxidation is well-integrated into a biscuity and toasty malt core; very generous, complex bière de garde with a lot of sweetness. Medium finish, showing plenty of yeast and brown sugar and biscuity notes.
