| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2007 From a 750mL Bottle. Pours the color of naval orange skins, slightly hazy, topped with a healthy layer of off-white head. A refreshing aroma of gentle lemon and crisp wheat acidity is backed by a layer of bready malt and complexified by a restrained leather funk. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. The flavors start out with loads of mild garden herbs and build toward a mid-palate apex of crisp biscuity malt. Intriguing how it starts hoppy and then gets increasingly malty as the palate extends. Toward the end, a mild wheat acidity and lactic, runny cheese rind funkiness builds and then takes over, rounding out the flavor profile nicely. Thanks for sharing, Dillon! Poured a medium sunset orange with a short cap of off-white head and some thicker lacing. Aroma picked up drier bready notes, spicy ligher fruits, and lightly-toasted caramel.. some oxidation is setting in, but enjoyed the mild sherry that it imparted. Flavor had a nice dose of toffee, caramel, and bread at the core.. some lemon tartness and stronger alcohol sugars toward the back-end. Well-carbonated on the palate, but had some sharper alcohol notes that detracted slightly.. all in all felt good. Glad to have tried this! jarlbartar (88), Janesville, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma of sour molasses and malts. Good carbonation with an understated brown molasses taste along with some roasted malts. Left a clean and warm aftertaste, letting you know the alcohol was there, but not over doing it. csbosox (1081), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2007 Bottle. Super happy to have gotten a hold of this last fall, supposedly the last one State Line had, though it doesn’t seem to have held up too well. Deep malty aroma, brown sugar and molasses, red fruit. Super heavy carbonation, a murky orange-brown body with a huge, rich beige head. Seemingly has a lot in common with a Bock. Dulled molasses and brown sugar, stale caramel malt and a dry, lightly bitter caramel aftertaste. Touch of toffee. Medium prickly body with a touch of citrus and vaguely Belgian yeast. ryan (1776), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
