Aroma is sweet with some light sugar and grain - somewhat Marzen-ish. Taste was sweet & slightly spicy/tart with a fair amount of yeast thrown in. Good beer from a brewer that should never have stopped producing quality stuff................. beerbill (1975), Laurel, New York, USA

My first thought was, "Oh no, infection." Thankfully, that was not the case. It was just freaking lively out of the bottle. The head settled down after a while and laced the glass quite nicely actually. Pleasant aroma of caramel, malt, some yeast, and very faintly tart green apples. The flavor is caramel and malt with some yeast with a light hop finish. This particular bottle held up very well and I am hopeful my other Biere D’ Art bottles taste this good! There was at most 2 cm of space between the beer and the unopened bottle cap. Poured a murky amber with a thick white head. Floral yeast and spice aroma, some alcohol detectable for 7.7%. Kind of undercarbonated for the style. Taste of spice, pepper, yeast, and it’s a bit hot at first, but this settles down after a few sips. JCB (1792), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2007 750 from HimerMan - thanks! Definitely an interesting variation on the style, or perhaps the differences I noticed are a product of age (I’m not actually sure about the dating of this bottle). The spicy bite I’m accustomed to in a biere de garde has been replaced by sticky candy, mild fruits, and cake - definitely not that long dry aftertaste I’d expect. But it’s an extremely interesting and enjoyable beer, with an almost buttery finish if that makes any sense. Another reminder of how sorely missed Heavyweight is. dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2007 750 ml bottle. Poured a slightly hazy light amber color with a great head that sits on this beer like a top hat. Aroma was sweet with notes of fruit, possibly raisin, and a light yeastyiness. Flavor is slight yeast, pepper and lemon. Palate is fairly dry which I find to run common with this particular style of beer. Good beer but not my favorite style. adrian910ss (1435), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of wheat, lemon, pepper and fresh yeast. Taste is bready with sourdough undertones and hints of malty caramel, lemon and a peppery finish. Very interesting brew and quite tasty. Pours transparent orange-brown with cascading bubbles leaving a steady small head and great lacing. Flavor is roasted malts, lots of caramel and the fruit is a bit stronger. Palate is sticky. Different and tasty brew. cbkschubert (2015), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Light carbonation. Lots of thick lacing. Aroma is esters, soap, light yeast and light malt. Has a sweet, lightly spicedfruity flavor with some nice toasted malt in the background. Medium body. This beer was a little better than I expected. Thanks Jason.
