Commercial Description:
A biere de garde or farmhouse beer. It's brewed exclusively with French pale malt and German hops. A long boil develops a deep amber color and malty complexity. A small amount of black pepper in the boil contributes a subtle spiciness. The beer is fermented with a wonderful monastic lager yeast and the finished beer is bottled-conditioned and packaged in 750 ml. corked bottles. The bottle wears a label of beaux art. It features an image of an abstract painting by Canadian artist: Christine Haley.

An unclear orange beer with a huge head. The aroma is sweet spicy - with coriander standing out. The flavor is sweet with notes of peaches, overripe oranges, and spices - coriander being most dominant. The best Biere de Garde I’ve ever had.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a hazy orangey golden with a creamy, off-white head. Spicy, peppery nose. Medium, dry body with a wee touch of honey and then some fantastic spicy notes that I cannot really pin out - thyme perhaps, or ginger? Dry but not overly hoppy finish. Tasted at the Oklahoma Beer tasting March 06 hosted by mjames and lilannie. 240306

Poured a hazy yellow colo with a small white head. Aroma and tastes of ctitrus (oranges). Light spices and yeast. I have a bottle that I will let sit in the cellar for a while (interested to see how it compares a few years down the road).

2002 750ml edition. Gushing upon opening. Nice cloudy golden, honest white head. Fluffy body, highly carbonated, well-rounded. Light aroma, very dry, grassy and almost smoky mysteriously. Spicy palate, dry, champaigny. Not as flavorfull as anticipated. Lots of candi sugar, sage-spice bitter finish with thyme notes.
