Impressive nose, blending coffee, chocolate and dark fruits. Very smooth taste with a sweetness that developes after the lingering aroma begins to fade. Finishes with a bit of an alcohol burn. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2003 Draught @ Moan & Dove in Amherst: Deep murky ruddy brown. Nose is yeast, alcohol, spice. Small whitish head. Starts real sweet, with big underlying malt flavor. Caramel/toffe-ish, dark fruit, fig, plum, chocolate covered cherry. Medium to full bodied, finising with a yeasty whack, and a wallop of alcohol. Alcohol is real evident, but this is still a very well made, terribly drinkable brew. Tom is da man!
