Commercial Description:
A schwartzbier brewed as a cousin to our porter. Using the same ratio of malts and comparable hops and using our house lager strain we created a highly drinkable black lager.

On tap. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of roast, I swear oysters (or did Eric plant that in my head), buttered oysters at that and topped with popcorn. There was something off with the aroma and taste. I’m curious to see if my bottles are the same.
Tasted from bottle on 11/10. Didn’t taste much better from the bottle. This is one that you will either really like or not. Some of the other guys at the tasting really enjoyed it while others didn’t. Keeping my numbers the same.

Pours murky brown like liquid tootsie rolls. Roasty delicious aroma. Easy drinking with wheat and roast flavors prominent. Very good beer that I would love to have again.

Earthy malt nose with a hint of smoke. Dark brown, but not black, topped with a sticky tan head. Nice lacing. Medium bodied and flavorful, but didn’t strike me as being that close to style. Nonetheless a solid brew.

A very fine Schwarzbier. Fresh, dry roast quality. Smooth, light smoke. Nice nose.

Pours out a nice dark brown color with a lively white head. Aroma is mostly roasty. Flavor is good with some roasted malt and chocolate, nice and to the point. I liked this beer

750 bottle. Pours brown but comes out almost black. very dark but cannot see through it. Smell is present - Smacks (the cereal) with a fishy/oyster-like aroma in the background. Taste has a good roasty-chocolate aspect. A bit watery.

on tap at heavyweight open house 6/3/06. Dark brown with an off white head. Aroma is chocolate, slighty smoky, with caramel malt. Taste is about the same, with a slight roasty finish.

DL06: Poured a hazy dark brown with a thin off-white head. Chocolatey aroma with sweet light malt. Tart notes with a touch a butterscotch. the flavor was tart with notes of cola, chocolate and roasty malt. Light carbonation.
