Aromas and tastes of roast, I swear oysters (or did Eric plant that in my head), buttered oysters at that and topped with popcorn. There was something off with the aroma and taste. I’m curious to see if my bottles are the same.
Tasted from bottle on 11/10. Didn’t taste much better from the bottle. This is one that you will either really like or not. Some of the other guys at the tasting really enjoyed it while others didn’t. Keeping my numbers the same. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2005 Draft… Way dark, clear, copper lager with a small, creamy, lightly tanned head. Good retention. Cocoa and cola fill the nose. Nicely balanced, malty, lightly bitter flavor. Whispers of molasses and deeply roasted nuts. Medium-bodied with a mild, creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Finishes thin, grassy and dry. CaptainCougar (5457), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Bottle sampled on 1/26/07: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a nicely-lacing cream-colored head. Lightly toasty, grainy caramel malty aroma has a touch of butterscotchy notes. Body starts sweet and slightly oxidized with more butterscotch and a touch of tartness. This doesn’t seem like it has aged all that well. jcwattsrugger (5333), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2007 750ml bottle courtesy of himerman. Pours brown with a nice tan head that settles down to a sustained thin head. Smells of caramel, maple, some pepper, some molasses and lots of earthy character. Tastes of cherries, semi sweet malt, hints of biscuits, touches of spice. What surprises me most about this beer is how well it’s held up. Very good example of the style.
