Aroma of raisins, chewy caramel, other dried fruits and tons of roasty chocolate. Black in color with some brown showing through the edges. Roasted chocolate flavors with a bacon like smokiness. Medium body, fairly crisp...not as cloying as some other Imperial Stouts. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

Char, dusty ester, black currants, and aged dark malt dominate the flavors. some notes of licorice on the finish. alcohol is well hidden due to age. body is medium and balanced. Pretty nice. i wonder how old the bottle was? footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 11, 2006 The aroma had dark fruit, slight caramel, light roast, and yeasty notes. The beer poured a black color w/ red hues, almost no head and lace. The flavor had dark fruit, toffee, slight roast and a play-do note? The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied and creamy. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2005 Poured black. Roasted aroma. Somewhat buttery. Touch of butter scotch. Coffee and chocolate start to make its way out with a little more warmth to the beer. Flavor was acidic and roasty. Fair amount of sweetness. More chocolate and roasted malt.. Some soy on the finish. Medium body. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2005 This imperial stout pours a dark black color from a large 750ml bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, a touch salty. A full bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Touch of soy. Touch of brine or salt. Nice balance. Perhaps a touch thin and a little light in the Imperial stout character. But that could be due to the close proximity of tasting this beer one beer after Cask Barrel Aged Speedway Stout. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Opaque black pour that pushes a small but creamy tan head to the top.
Complex aroma with roast malt, coffee and chocolate.
The flavor follows with just a touch of butterscotch but it all is put together nicely in a thick full bodied brew.
The bottle was not quite as intense as the tap version, but very tasty.
