Nearly opaque with some reddish notes, heavy caramel head and good lace. The aroma has notes of vanilla, mocha, wood, caramel, coffee, aromatic hops and earthy yeast esters. The taste starts with a heavy dose of malts, sweet with a fruity undertone. A minor bitter finish with additional characteristics of wood, coffee, and smoke. The feel is smmoth and oily. This rocks and is a top notch stout indeed. Now all we need a equal RateBeer Impy ;-} JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 11, 2004 Black with nice tan head, got this bottle from BA’s own "Cretemixer" who is my neighbor. Shared with BBB63 & Jaymobrown as well! Chocolate is huge here, chalky and thick, the alcohol is well masked under loads of chocolate gooeyness. Thick, rich body. Dutch cocoa dryness at the finish. As it warmed, wonderful plum and prune hints were found in the nose and taste. Fabulous! jaymobrown (1360), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Medium brown and quite creamy. Sweet chocolate aroma. Actually smells like a butter cream chocolate easter egg. Good helping of caramel also. Color is black. Flavor is soft in the mouth. Bit of roasted grains and coffee up front. Some bitterness and dryness as the brew warms. Finish is dry and not sweet as expected. Nice roasty finish. Hint of alcohol but is hidden very well. Little bit harsh at the finish. A very good imperial stout but needs to age and mellow for a while. JohnC (2280), Mission Viejo, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 11, 2004 Pours a thick opaque black with a thin, but dense tan head. Lots of sweet caramel malt and toffee in the aroma wiht some milk chocolate and dark fruits. Starts rich, sweet, and viscous turning more roasty toward the finish. Goes down with a warming feeling, but has nice flavor otherwise. The malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness could meld together a little better, but overall this is a fine imperial stout. Thanks to willblake for this brew! MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
