Black, opaque body with brown/tan head that recedes to cover. Roastiness cuts the sweetness but buttery diacetyl swamps the palate. Full-on chocolate flavour and long, very sweet finish. Slick, sticky mouthfeel. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, lubiere, MartinT and Rastacouere. Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2004 Black, opaque, honest tan head. Aroma of sweets, butterscotch, coffee, caramel: very malty of course. Hops are rather subdued all the way through which makes it rather sweet altogether despite a firm roastiness, black chocolate reminiscent. Lightly lactic in a buttery kind of way (diacetyl although not unpleasant). Develops nice coffee flavors. Thick sludge-like body, low carbonation. Lovely mouthfeel. beerbuzzmontreal (2931), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Great flavor of roasty, smoky malts and toffee. Bitter finish. Medium body, liquorous texture with a warm feeling, soft carbonation. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Black as night, brown head, rich chocolate aroma, smoooth chocolate flavor, hint of cherry, lacking in hops - a good thing in my opinion for this beer. quite delicious Probiere (992), Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2004 Aroma: whisky, vanilla extract, slight anise, honey-oatmeal. Excellent. Silky oily mouthfeel. Some head retention. Taste long, semi-sweet TollHouse chips, alcohol, and roast. End clean but aftertaste lingering black chocolate. Excellent stuff. Cornboy (418), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 15, 2004 Poured black as night. Very little head as expected. Aromas of dark fruit and malts with slight chocolate alcohol finish. Nice heavy mouthfeel, not cloying at all. For a big beer thats young, quite smooth. Please bottle it for the masses, they deserve it too!!

Flavor of alcohol is strong up front.(What
is the %alc/vol.?) It tastes like at least
10 %. Flavor of caramel and dark roasted malt with a background bitterness. Nice but could never drink
more than one at a time. Hawksfan17 (718), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 14, 2004 A Russian Imperial Stout, one of their OTOP beers. Poured dark brown, had a milk chocolate smell to it and tasted the same, but also had a kind of burnt flavor. It was also slightly tart which threw my taste buds off a litte. Not bad at all though.
