Commercial Description:
Leftovers ... We aged some Chuck (sort of a brown-bretty) in wooden barrels with sour cherries for six months. It emerged with a somewhat subdued brett presence but tastes more like a flemish sour. 6.4% abv. (33 cases in 750ml)

Bottle compliments of Indiana_Red: Pours a muddy brown color with light diminishing head and no lacing. The nose is a bit tart with a light brown sugar and a bit of vinous dill pickle notes. The flavor is nice and tart; coupled with the light carbonation and a bit of sweet dull cherry notes, it’s actually not that bad. This is more in line on what I’d like out of a fruit lambic compared to that hanssens strawberry lambic I had last night. The finish on this is smooth yet a bit flat. Decent! Thanks Ken!

Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing and having to leave before it was even open. Poured a hazy amber color with a thin off-white head. The aroma was dominated with tart cherries, leather, wood, and some light sweet malt. Tast cherry flavor with yeast and more leather. But not as nice as the aroma. Somewhat refreshing. thin and light bodied.

Thanks to biggcb for this... Appears a hazy reddish brown with a tiny tan head that fades quickly into a tiny collar. Thin spots of lacing is left around the glass. Smell is of sour complex cherries, brettanomyces, Rodenbach yeast, oak barrel, steak sauce, & mild vinegar. Truly a wonderful smelling beer rivaling that of Rodenbach itself. Taste..what a c-tease from the aromas. I was expecting Pam Anderson and I got George "The Animal" Steele in a wig. Woody oak, mild chalkyness, tart cherries with just too much of the bitter oak tannins taking this one over. It just seems like Tom left this one in the barrels a bit too long. Mouthfeel is woody, mildly tart, again with too much of the oak tannins overtaking what could’ve been an upper echelon Flanders Red. Do it again but maybe leave it in the barrels half the time.

750ml bottle shared courtesy of biggcb. Poured a muddy reddish-brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of funk, brett, tart cherries, berries, leather and wood. Damn, I could smell this one all night. One nice smelling beer. Very light and thin tastes of wood, and tart cherries. Major let down from the aroma. If the tastes were even close to the awesome aroma, this would have been in my top 10. Thinner and flat body.

Shared bottle @ hopdog’s. A cloudy, reddish/brown color. Aroma full of cherries, yeast and sourness. A relatively full and very pleasing aroma. At this point, I was very proud of my contribution to the group tasting....and then, things begin to unravel w/ everyones’ first sip. The cherries, yeast & sourness were still present in the flavor, but nowhere at the level which came through in the aroma. Rather disappointing. Very drinkable, but a bit of a bait-and-switch between the aroma and taste.

Poured a hazy reddish amber color with a thin, light tan head that left some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma was funky, some sour cherries, brett, horseblanket, and leather. Taste was not as overpowering, but still decent. Some tart cherry, grapeskin, green apple, caramel, nuts, and tons of dry oak in the finish.
Update 5/4/07: This beer seems to have lost all carbonation, and sourness. Wet cardboard with faint cherries. Score reflects best condition sampled.

Thanks to biggcb. Pours a hazy red amber with a small off white head that went away quickly. Aroma of cherry, some oak, sourness and a general light sweetness, very nice aroma. Hard to put into words. Then it was onto the flavor...can you say "buzzkill"? What the heck in no way did the flavor match the aroma. No carbonation and just way mellowed out.

Bottle and served in my Corsendonk glass, which all my Flemish Sours are drank: Dull ruby hue with a fading off-white frothy head and spotty lace.
The aroma has notes of cherry over oaky wood with a splash of bready malts, light spice, walnut, and yeasty vapors.
Sadly the taste doesn’t match the nose. While the beer does have some sourness and brown ale character, neither are as forceful as the better examples of the genre, way too reserved.
The mouthfeel is too lively which takes away from the delicate woody nature.
While serviceable this beer misses it true potential for greatness, a shame.
