| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 17, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orangish color under a one inch creamy white head. Lots of intense carbonation with some large chunks of sediment. Aroma is full of campfire smokiness with notes of bacon, salt, caramel malt, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor has alot of maltiness up front, but the mid swallow to finish is where it’s at. Great smokey meaty goodness! Not much of any noticable alcohol. Mouthfeel has alot of carbonation, but it’s very fine and thus not overly distracting. Medium bodied and just short of cloying on the palate. I love smoke beers, so maybe I’m a little biased, but this was really enjoyable to drink. If you don’t care for intense smoke beers then certainly avoid this one. eaglefan538 (2368), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 12, 2006 Pours a cloudy/murky orange-brown color with a decent head and only ok lacing. The aroma was of sweet coffee, peat, and peat. The flavor was really strong smoke, almost came across as a rauch. Citrus / lemon sour base underneath, something about these HW beers that have a sour malt underneath it all. Hops are non-existent (as they should be within style, perhaps the only accurate part of the style captured here). Mouthfeel is acidic and lacking creaminess. Downright nasty for a bock. More like a weak attempt at a Scottish Ale or Rauch. hophead75 (1959), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is smoky, malty, and some fruit notes. Taste: smokey, malty, and fruity. very interesting, liked it. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2006 Pour is hazed ruby with a thin dense skin of an off white head...smell is pork fat, and hints of bread...wow...taste is smokey and fruity all at the same time...I don’t know what to make of this...definately sweet and sour and smokey...maybe some pears...I don’t know at all...I THINK it is pretty good though... | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2006 What a wacky beer! Bottle-conditioned, smoky but not too much, but quite tart from yeast. The aroma really curls your nostril hairs. This veers between strage fruitiness (apricot and peach) and smoky sourdough bread goodness. This beer is a challenge - quite flavorful. I’m not sure if I like it as much as other, more tame smoked lagers, but it perks up the mind. Lovely beer. Thanks to Dorwart for the bottle. bigrond (1049), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 1, 2006 aroma is very smokey(duh), the appearance is a cloudy reddish brown. seems to be a lot of alcohal taste with a heavy liquid smoke flavor. It lingers a great deal. The beer is smooth and warming. It’s pretty good. the smoked beer is a style I’m not to familar with. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 24, 2006 Updated: Apr 26, 2006Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours deep amber with a decent off-white head. Aroam of fruit,smoke, and citrus. Flavor is fruit, smoke, and citrus. Didn’t care too much for this. SwedeDog (364), Windsor, Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2006 Bottle. Pours orange and hazy with a noticeable amount of floaties. Aroma has that smoked cheese thing going on, and that’s about it. After that aroma, I wasn’t expecting much from this one. However, the mouth is much different than the nose. There’s still a smokiness, but it’s in the background. Light fruits (banana, citrus, and even some pineapple), some caramel and honey for sweetness, and some astringency. It’s quite balanced, and as it warmed, it became more so. Despite the initial impression, it became something that I really enjoyed.
