Commercial Description:
Cinderbock is a bock-style beer brewed with German smoked and munich malts. It's fermented with a classic Bavarian lager yeast and cold-conditioned for five weeks. The result is a malty, clean tasting lager laced with smoke and intrigue.

Wow. I really was bowled over by this beer. The last beer I had in the sample pack (a gruit) really underwhelmed me. But this was right up my alley. I am a fan of Lapsam Souchang tea (smoked chinese tea). I also indulge in some single malts when I get a bump in my allowance. So a smoky beer really does it for me. I could drink this all night. I would get rid of the goat with a doobie, though.

Toasted amber. Nitro-esque, healthy foam. Beautifully balanced earthy aroma. Abundant caramel and smoked pork notes alongside licorice and leafy hop overtones. Vague phenols. Gorgeous palate; extremely dense, creamy, and feathery. Flavors begin with light hints of leaf. Light acidity only adds to the complexity and transitions to a vague smoke, leafy hop mixture. Exquisitely smooth, lush malt finish, with undertones of wood, caramel, and earthy hop. Shockingly balanced. With such a long, well balanced, complex finish of caramel coated malts, light acidity, and fruity, leafy hop characteristics, the artistry involoved here cannot be denied. This has everything I seek in the style. Either this is an extremely good bottle or it is simply underappreciated. I would've guessed this was produced in Bamberg.

I wasn’t told this would be a smoked beer when I tried it, but what a pleasant surprise. The smokiness sneaks onto your tongue under a nice balance of malts. The server laughed watching my face light up. These guys make some good beer.

I like smoked beer and this is one to like. Excellent head and lace. The nose is full of smoked malt. The palate is medium bodied and malty. Clean and smokey. The brewer in my opinion used the right amount of smoked malt in this baby. Reminds me of a lighter dryer version of DeGroens rauchbock. A must try NJ beer.

What a strange beer this is? Not what I was expecting, but after reading the label and seeing the smoking goat pictured on it, how was I supposed to know. Super awesome, cloudy as hell, dark amber brownish color, lots of carbonation bubbles within, head is off-white, thin and firmly creamy and keeps a solid haze and ring on top; lingering lace in strings. The smell of this is like non other I have wafted, I like it, but its a bit weird - it smells like smoked bacon or jerky of some kind, quite nice if you like that sort of thing, reminded of a recent smoked salmon dish I had. Taste is nearly like the smell, heavy smokey taste that seems to be bacon-like in flavor with a lightly sweet malt backing trying to keep it from starting a fire. Where's there's smoke....? One weird ass beer? Feel is medium bodied with a smooth carbonation and a thin creamyness to it. Its interesting to say the least. I could drink a ton of these, but I think the taste might get a little old after awhile, cuz you can only eat so much bacon, before you just can't handle it anymore, as with this beer.

Bottled. Poured a cloudy dark orange with a ton of smoke aroma. The taste consisted of plenty of smoke with some malt in the background. This turned out to be a really good beer, although it isn't my idea of a session beer, it is a really good fall/winter beer. Hell, it would go great at a summer barbecue!
