Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Feb 25, 2006 Tap at Brrrcade 2. Amber gold witout much head but that’s ok. This is one of my two favorite Baker beers and this one didn’t dissapoint my big expectations. The smoke is there, the body creamy and silky smooth. The flavors are mostly of smoke and Munich malts. Fuhgetaboutit good. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 21, 2006 Tap @ Barcade. This was one of my favorite iced beers out of the 5. Pours a cloudy medium amber-light brown with a thin head. Nice smokey and peaty aroma, very similar to the traditional german rauchbiers- cigar smoke, smoked meat and fish. Very smooth refined smokiness, which was more pleasant overall than the regular cinderbock. Lots of meaty flavors, smooth malt, light caramel, moderate roast, and a smooth finish. Very nice.
Oh yeah, Tom also saved the ice from this one, thawed it and put it in a keg. It tasted like smoke soda. Very very smokey with a watery body (duh) and not much else. Weird stuff. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Feb 19, 2006 Very heavily smoked...too much like bacon for my taste. Very sweet and highly malted, as notalush says. Looks very enticing with a dark yellow-gold body and a frothy head. The alcohol is very well hidden. Nice carbonation and mouthfeel. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 19, 2006 Tap at Barcade - I don’t detect much of a difference between this and regular Cinderbock - for the most part, the heavy smokiness of the original is gone, and the sweet munich and caramel malts are allowed to come to the front - there is a greater smoothness on the palate than the original, making it dangerously drinkable - because of the decreased smokiness, it more closely resembles BockBock, which is a very good thing.
