Deep amber pour with medium to small head. Butterscotch aroma with hints of smoke. This smells wonderful. Very smooth, caramelly, buttery, smokey. This tastes great. Excellent mouthfeel, very pleasant surprise. Great beer.

Bottle thanks to trade from hopdog! Hazy brown color with big off-white head. Aroma and flavors of rye, smoke and nuts. Flavor is nice and malty... rye and almonds. Biggest flaw is the slightly strange acidic taste in the finish that I’m getting. Wish I had had this a little fresher but still quite enjoyable.

Gusher alert! Nothing out of the ordinary for a Heavyweight beer though. Pours a deep chestnut with ruby red/amber highlights when held to the light. Intially poured with a 4 finger head that was foamy/rocky. Sustained but dimished down to a "normal" size. Head a light tan color and left lots of spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts, hints of smoke, various grains, hints of fruit...really loved what the smoke did for this aroma. Flavor was surprisingly smokey up front. Not the overpowering smoked meats smoke but more of a campfire smokey. Some nuts and well done multigrain toast.

Bottle courtesy of hopdog. Dark amber/mahogany, off white head. huge nutty, roaste grain aroma, rather quite nice. Nuttiest smell I’ve ever experienced. Flavor becomes overwhelming at times, because of the extreme nuttiness. not a bad beer, just drinkability takes a hit, with the huge nutty character.

750ml bottle via trade with Willblake! - Thanks! - Pours pale brown with an enormous offwhite head.. Seriously I couldn’t get the bottle to stop foaming over for 10 minutes.. Aromas of nuts, earthiness, some smoke, some yeastiness, and a touch of caramel with toasted malt. Flavor is smoke, nuts, earthiness, toasted malt, caramel and a touch of something sour. Seemed overly carbonated and a little watery on the palate...

A bit thin is the only problem here. Smoky and nutty, with earth and brown rice aromas. A fermenty alcoholic yeast tang dominated the flavor, but in a good way. To me, this is like a less hefty Bell’s Best Brown, but one that’s been kept in the cellar for a good while. Nearly unique for a Brown. Very good.

750ml bottle found tucked away at a NE Philly establishment. Still kicking myself for discovering heavyweight so late in their existence, but finds like these take some of the sting away. Nutty, grainy aroma with perhaps a hint of roasted coffee. Taste is rich, nutty, with some very pleasant sweet-roasted grains. Nice body for the style, with a pleasant grainy aftertaste. Probably the best available in the style - at least while it was available.

25 oz bottle, via BA BeerBeing. Pours a clear very dark copper to light brown colored body under an enormous large bubbled meringue like head. Lots of visible carbonation. Aroma is rather dry with lots of nutty and toasted malt. Some light coffee notes, and a distinct graininess with lots of cereal notes. Flavor is similar to aroma, grainy toasted and nutty malt, similar in some ways to Cheerios. Finishes very dry and a little dusty. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied but the carbonation is extremely overactive and prickly, really detracting from the overall experience. A more or less run of the mill Brown, but not the most enjoyable because of the mouthfeel.
