Vibrantly airy, estery nose of white pepper, lavender, and honeydew melon. Milder, but pungent, scents of brett-induced putty, dried herbs, and must. Fluffy and expansive, with a seltzer edge of activeness. Early medicinal tang of brett immediately tightens its grip. Flawlessly attenuated. Redefines the term “balance,” as understated doughy malt sweetness gels with brilliantly placed unripe melon acidity. Harsh medicinal-accented stone and wet leather dryness enhance its highly satiating nature and firm up the body’s softness. Slick melon acidity lends more elegance along the way, as a lightly toasty husk base continually highlights the mustiness. Finishes moistly full with a bright dousing of lavender over a well-proportioned integration of floral hops, medicinal brett, and toasted hay. This is right up there with the legends. Not only does the yeast show remarkable composure, but it’s incredibly clean, aromatic, and luxurious all-around. If I died today, I’d die happily. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

Aroma has a big bubble gum presence, with some yeasty/doughy banana bread. Very carbonated. Flavor has lots of chewy banana and bubble gum, with some residuel sugar. Very nice overall. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Bright amber body with a uniform, sudsy grayish head. Very bretty horse blanket aroma with mild organic honey tones and an element of orange peels. Subtle, well-integrated wild yeast flavors with hay and orange qualities, low acidity, nice dryness, and moderate bitterness. I like the wild and mature layered aspects to this. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2006 Opened a bottle today of this golden treasure. The brett has come through significantly after aging it for a year+. Poured cloudy and a shade under amber. Quite a bunch of foam. Aromas of funky brett with slight citrus and hints of spice. Less sweet, more dry than I remember it, guess the effect of aging. Exceptional, most OTOPs are! walleye (882), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
