Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Aug 23, 2005 Pours brown with a tannish head. Smells of nutmeg, figs, raisins, grapes and port wine. Tastes of chocolate, nutmeg and a small hint of ginger. Very good, but this does not taste like a quad, but rather a very good standard Belgian ale. Lizabeth (360), east falmouth, Massachusetts, USA May 30, 2005 The sweet candy sugar and fruity notes of a Belgian Ale blend seemlessly with the dark chocolate and bitter coffee flavors of an Imperial Stout to form one incredible beer. The end result reminds me of a bittersweet fruity dark mocha chocolate bar. Wonderful. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Nov 21, 2003 I thought this beer was so fantastic that I forgot to rate it last month. Drank too much of it I guess. This beer really had a neat flavor - a blend of belgian strong ale and imperial porter. Spices and chocolate-coffee. Who knew they'd give such a smooth, rich beer together? I really with I could get my hands on some more of this. notalush (2628), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 25, 2003 Apparently they brewed a belgian style quad. and decided to blend in a bit of their Imperial Porter, and boy does it make for one good beer - it has the caramel, candy-ish, dark fruit flavors of the belgian ale, coupled with the bitter-sweet chocolate notes of the porter - this makes an overall taste that is something like candied plums and chocolate covered cherries - a courageous experiment, and quite a success at that.
