Commercial Description:
The Gotland, or Viking beer has been extinct for some time... or has it? The ingredients: Smoked, pale, rye, wheat, and sour malts. Juniper, German hops, Blessed Thistle, Bog Myrtle, bread yeast, and birch bark... all aged in whisky wood. We bet you never tasted anything quite like it.

Bottle shared by Ohiodad at CT4, thanks! Golden pour with no real head to speak of. Aroma of booze, spices, rasin, and a bit of smoke. Flavor also held some smoke elements along with the rasin and some sweet malt. Almost flat, kinda slick mouthfeel with a somewhat dry finish. Neat stuff.

Shared by OhioDad at C-bus tasting #4. Beef Jerky and liquid smoke aroma which is very strong. Golden brown in color with no head. The palate is light. Taste is very smokey, but also has hints of honey, spices, fruit and wood. This is one perplexed brew. Interesting for sure, but not great to drink.

Bottle shared by OhioDad: Clear amber color with no head. Aroma, spice, smokey, raisins. Flavor, kinda wine like, some grapes, and a spicy yeastiness as well. Pretty crazy stuff, enjoyable though.

750ml bottle via trade with jhop and shared at Columbus Tasting 4.0 - Thanks! - Pours amber with absolutely no head.. Looks much like a mead in the glass. Aromas of light smoke, some grape, ginger, caramel, fig, and raisin. Flavor is raisins, grapes, figs, caramels, yeast, and light smoke... Palate is smooth and almost oily with a very dry finish... A very unique brew..

RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup Murky orange, light head and lacing. Nose of eucalyptis and cardamom, light malt/hop and some more medicinal. The flavor is smoky, herbal, sweet, bitter, odd. All over the place. Finishes dry, herby, fairly nice and weird. Again, all over the place.

Well, I am guessing that my bottle is infected. No head and no carbonation at all. Sour apricots aroma. Little bit of spruce and smoke in there also. Color is a dark orange. Well, here goes. Sweet and flat flavor with more spruce and smoke. I am guessing that the yeast was dead on this one and never carbonated. Really not that bad for a dead brew. Some spices and a mild alcohol presence. Very easy drinking. Finish is sweet and caramelly with a lingering alcohol tingle. Probably would have been a very good brew if it had carbonated properly. Even though, it is still decent.
