| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2005 Draft, EBF: Hazy yellowy golden appearance. Interesting aroma full of spices, salty and spicy malt together with bready yeast and seafood spices over a slice of rye bread. Weird taste that doesn’t really stand out to me, okay balance for such an original melting pot, salt and bread cohabiting. Nice medium carbonation pairs over a light-medium refreshing palate. Worth a try. hopscotch (5537), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 24, 2004 The aroma and flavor are a morph of peach and apricot. Watery and thin. Light-bodied and fizzy. Dry finish. Not a fan of the style. Sahti is it? MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The Lure: Subdued perfume of juniper & white wine-y fruitiness tinted by a well-balanced light salmon saltiness. Appearance and carbonation are quite Belgian-like.
The Festivities: Impressively bitter hay and rye malts get tiring. Leafy fruitiness and white wine character work efficiently with the Belgian, fluffy body. Quite interesting, but I can’t gauge it to a real sahti for now. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 28, 2005 Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Smells strongly of juniper berries, juniper branches, flowers and pine resin. Taste is slightly spicey with some saltiness and pronounced flavors of juniper, gooseberries and some heather. Finish is very pronounced and strong making this a surprisingly bold beer given its low ABV. Kudos to Heavyweight for doing this one as it exceeds any attempt at a sahti I’ve had before. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Very pale golden with a thick white head. Aroma is fantastic with lots of fruity sweetness, light juniper, mint and a touch of apple/pear character. Light wildness on the nose as well. Floral with a soft muskiness as well. Grassy flavour up front that is quickly replaced with light spiciness, rye and juniper berry. Apple/berry fruits with a soft spearmint flavour that creates a soft cooling effect in the mouth. Refreshing tartness. It’s hard to believe that this beer has held up like this for >3 years, but there you have it. Highly quaffable. I really hope that there is another keg of this stashed away somewhere.
