Commercial Description:
Lunacy is brewed exclusively with Belgian Pilsner malt, Styrian and English Goldings hops and freshly ground coriander. It begins its life with a long patient boil and is cast into the fermenter at 17.5 P. It then undergoes a vigorous fermentation and extended cold conditioning. After bottling, the beer receives an additional 2 week warm rest before it is released. This yields a surprisingly refreshing brew with spicy notes, sweet malt and subtle fruit.

12 oz bottle thanks to dmac for this retired gem. Wow! This is great. I love the carbonation and the slight sourness. Apple cider like appearance. Tasty clove, spice, apple. Very delicious. I think heavyweight was on to something with this one.

12 fl. oz. bottle shared by Lubiere (merci!), served cool in a goblet. JA11/09.

App.: Hazy deep golden with orange hues and minimal white rim. Aroma: Very sweet, lots of fruit – apples, pears, peaches, floral honey, a lot of yeast and bread dough, some citrus and a little funk, light toffee. Palate: Medium-ish body, moderately soft effervescence. Flav.: More citrus than the nose, bordering on Tripel, some minerals, yeast, honey, somewhat less fruity than the nose, coriander, slightly peppery; somewhat sweet, minimal bitterness, a little alcohol.

A solid Belgian Ale.

2 year old keg at Earth. Brilliant gold with a huge white head. Apple, spicy, bretty aroma with lots of complexity. The taste reminds of of orval with lots of grass, lemon, pepper and brett. Aged beautifully.

Aroma of apple, hay, dust, yeast, spice, maybe some grassy sweetness. Hazy dark orange with a thin white ring around the edges of my tulip. Green apple, spice, yeast, biscuit sweetness, a little grassy lemon pepper bitterness in the finish. A touch of alcohol comes through. Pretty enjoyable, I wonder how old it is?

12oz bottle. Yeast heavy aroma. Apple skin and cider, honeyed malt, cinnamon. Slightly grassy, earthy and herbal. Pours a thick, hazy dark gold with a resilient white head. Flavor is dominated by loads of yeasty esters. Dried, earthy malt. White pepper. Cut grass and hay. Simple, crisp and refreshing. Overbearing and mouthfilling carbonation. Finishes grainy and dry with a touch of banana yeast esters. Thanks John!

A long time display bottle for the artwork. Pours a hazy golden body. Spicy hoppiness. Lots of fruit apricot, pear, citrus, and sweet sugar cane. Still had this tart finish to it.

Thanks mcbackus! I got the bottom of the bottle, so it was a super-cloudy gold color with some brown chunks. Mmmm... The smell was of tart western apples and vanilla cookies with a slight alcohol kick. The flavors are similar. Vanilla cookies and apples and just a bit of sour. Overall, it wasn’t that pretty at the bottom of the bottle, but it tasted good.
