Commercial Description:
Lunacy is brewed exclusively with Belgian Pilsner malt, Styrian and English Goldings hops and freshly ground coriander. It begins its life with a long patient boil and is cast into the fermenter at 17.5 P. It then undergoes a vigorous fermentation and extended cold conditioning. After bottling, the beer receives an additional 2 week warm rest before it is released. This yields a surprisingly refreshing brew with spicy notes, sweet malt and subtle fruit.

Cloudy golden body, tiny white head that provides pretty good lacing belying its size. The aroma is yeasty fruit some citrus but mainly sweet. The flavor is much like a trippel, with sweet malt and some spiciness. The palate is a bit of a letdown to me, medium-full but it has a watery finish and disappers very quickly down into the gullet.

one of the best smelling beers ever. loved it! like key lime pie. the taste was quite mixed, a little much alcohol considering the moderate/high strength, but by the end i really came to enjoy it. part of an awesome variety pack.

Smells of a light belgian yeast aroma, with some peachy fruit esters (faint), and a stronger hops aroma. Interesting. Bottle conditioned, very clouded deep orange, with some dark yellows and rusty golds. Small creamy beige head. First taste is quite typical of a belgian blonde, but then on the finish here come the hops. Hmmm, this is an interesting take. More hops apparency than any belgian style golden I've tried. At first I didnt like it, but as the beer sat out warmed and flattened, it added a nice layer of complexity. Meaty yeast flavor, mild peaches, honey and that pepperiness on the finish. Didnt find any coriander but whatever, it was quite good and after warming preserved a good, clean flavor unlike North Coast's pranqster. Still, in all, the flavor is fairly dull. Thanks for the trade Jeffin.

Poured two bottles of this and could not get more than a trace of a head in my cheesy La Trappe glass. The beer was a glowing gold/apple juice color with medium cloudiness and some floaties. Looked appetizing enough. Some lemon and grapefruit citrus on the nose. Taste is light, more crisp than I'd expect in a Belgian Ale type (I'm no expert) that I assume is from the pilsner malt. Mild hop finish reminds me of an English ale. No alcohol presence--that was a shame. There does seem to be some zinfindel like peppery spiciness that seems out of place in this beer. The finish was thin, lightly bitter and vegetal aftertaste. All in all a good beer, but not one that I'd spring for again.

12 oz bottle: light golden hay with plenty of floating yeast that makes it quite cloudy. A thin bubbly head, diminishes quickly, but leaves a soapy ring around the glass. Flavours are initially bitter wheat and yeast, lemon grass, coriander, cloves and some alcohol. There is also a bit of winey malt on the tongue. Palate is a bit thin, but there is some nice carbonation. Finish is wet and juicy with some fruit presence – bananas and red apples.

I wasn't all that pleased with this one at 1st but about half way through the glass, it started to get better (maybe it was too cold to start). Very nice foamy white head and decent golden color. Nice fruity aroma and flavor. A decent Belgian style ale from NJ.

Bottled. Minimal head for Belgian-style, pretty bright golden color. Nose yeasty, spicy, sweet, perfumy, bit wheaty, very fresh. Flavor nicely balanced sweet/sour, banana-wheat-coriander presence, smooth, pleasant, nothing extraordinary. Full body.
