Pours murky medium brown with huge tan head, made of tiny bubbles. Very carbonated, took about 5 pours, to finish this thing. Lots of fruit up front in aroma, peach, apricot, rotten orange. Some caramel malt and alcohol in the backgound. Flavor much the same, except it has a spicy hop character, with a slight alcohol burn. Seems a little rough around the edges. Probably needs some time. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 20, 2005 2002 bottle. Browinsh orange color with a medium beige head, fairly cloudy. Big fruity aroma, peachy with orange and lots of malt and brown sugar. There was a touch of booze in there still even after three years but it was to the point that it was a welcome addition as opposed to how it likely is when it’s fresh. Damn fine beer. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 12, 2005 I can dig the dirty old man sailor vibe with the name of this beer. Reddish tan color with a very large head. The aroma is of the juice that runs out of a massive trash compactor. The taste though, it was very sweet, very sugar candy like. Damn impressive. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Nice strong malt taste, intense alcohol (still) with a nice bit of fruit in there as well. We had a lot of Barleywines tonight and this stood out, pretty nice. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2005 Pours mid-brown with an ENORMOUS head. I managed to get it 1.5" over the top of the glass. Woohoo! Aroma and taste are both overwhelmingly malty... this beer puts the "wine" in barley wine. Damn. Alcohol kick is waaaay too much. sprinkle (114), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

This is a 04 lots of sediment, cloudy bronze.Slight tart, sweet malts, more detectable age on the nose than typical aged beers. Smells and tastes engish is style sweetness that lingers and is decently cleaned up by the bitterness. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
