Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

12oz bottle via trade with puzzl. Aroma: Slightly sweet roasted malt with strong coffee and cocoa presence. Molasses, slight floral and spice hops. Appearance: Dark, dark brown. Head was light tan in color, full and creamy. Didn’t last long, but dissipated into a nice film. Decent lacing. Flavor: Roasted malt up front, again with coffee and cocoa. A little smoke. Lots of graininess as it warms. A bit of floral hops right into the finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight alcohol warming in back of mouth. Roasted malt astringency on sides of mouth. Overall: Great beer, to bad it’s no longer in production. Strong flavors that are worked well, but never over the top. Well crafted. Wish I had some more.

Aquired from DocLock. Thank you. OH MY!!!!!!!! This is awesome. Pours deep black with small tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and maybe a little molasses. Flavor is mild roasted (smoked) coffee and a nice nutty flavor. This one really suprised me.

Nice looking black pour with virtually no head. Very appetizing aroma that is sweet, malty, java-ish, & maybe some dark chocolate. Rich malty flavor that incorporates mocha-ish coffee flavor and roasted grains. Just a bit-o-hop bitterness that makes it all go down nicely. Mouthfeel is nice with a smooth grainy taste and thick finish. The sad part is that I discovered Heavyweight right as they were going away. If only other brewers could be so creative!

12 oz. bottle via trade with JCapriotti - Pours a deep dark brown color with a thin tan head. The head faded quickly with very little lacing. Has a sweet, lightly roasted chocolate and coffee aroma. Very nice. Has a bitter roasted malt flavor with some dark esters. Medium body. A very good beer. Thanks Jason.

Bottle courtesy after4ever. Pours an opaque black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of molasses, coffee and roasty malt. Full body with light carbonation. Taste of chocolate, cherries, raisins riding on a wave of molasses. Surprisingly clean finish. Tasty sippin’ beer!

12-oz.; AbusedGoat, can’t thank you enough for this one! Pours a perfectly light-sucking nebula black. Thick moussy small-bubble mocha head. Big roast and molasses nose. Smooth, rich, creamy, thick heavy body, but not sticky or cloying--deliciously drinkable (it’s gotta be the yeast, money). Espresso, char, roast, nut, and even cherry come through, and there’s a nice mildly spice-hoppy finish. The cherry waits for the beer to warm up before it really announces itself. This beer is just shamefully addictive for 8%. Almost too good to sip.

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with slight head formation; minimal retention and lacing. Generous nose showing dark chocolate, raisins. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, raisins again. Balanced with a pleasant sweetness. Medium finish ending in milk chocolate and smoke.
