Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Black in color with a small brown bubbly head. Aroma of roasted grains, cocoa and coffee. Flavor follows suit with cocoa and roasted coffee, possibly some smoke and a sourness in the finish that is quite contrasting but enjoyable. Alcohol is noticable but not detracting. A very good beer overall.

bottle at sharpedge. Pours a very dark and heavy black...no head. Very little aroma...maybe cause I was in the bar...but I could usually get at least one decent whiff of the tons of other beers I’ve had there...I guess they was a little bit of burnt chocolate. Taste was dark hershey’s chocolate and a bit of malt...some nice cleaning bitterness as well. Mouthfeel was very heavy for a porter. Not my fav.

Lots of cherry in nose. The color was a great dark black with very little head. The flavor was a cherry, and I would have rated it higher, but it was a little bit medicinal. The palate was surprisingly smooth given the amount of alcohol in this beer.

I have to disagree with many of these reviews, I thought this was incredible. Creamy malty body, flavors of chocolate, raisins, and whiskey, wow. I don’t have a single complaint about this one.

Tap @ society hill restaurant: Very dark brown/black color with small light tan head. Aroma is slightly roasty, hints of smoke, pepper, ash, caramel. Flavor is malty, roasty, hints of chocolate, cream, vanilla. Finish is smooth, balanced, with a hint of sweetness and a subtle alcohol notes at the end.

Pours almost black with a decent sized light brown/ dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, citrusy fruit, slight hops, and subtle chocolate notes. Flavor is smooth, fruity, carbonated, slight bitterness, slight chocolate and roast, good body, great brew.

Dark nearly black in the glass with no head to speak of even after an aggressive pour. Rich fruits and malts aromas. Big malts and bitter finishing with a definite salty feel/taste. OK, but definitely not a a stand out.

Pours a rich brownish black with no head. Nose just plain stinks. A strange sour almost malt vinegar thing ( not sure if my bottle is bad, tastes alright). Flavor is thick and malty with bitterness a little thin honestly. Doesn’t totally suck but not great either.
