Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Poured black with a thin brown head. Aroma was malt and chocolate. The flavor was malt and toffee, with a warm alcohol taste. Nice beer.

Pours a nice thick jet black with a minimal amount of white head that disapates in 5 seconds. Sweet chocolate and coffe aromas that are very inviting. Very sweet flavor with bits of fruit and a sour alcohol finish. Overall, I found this beer to be very enjoyable and would definitely reccomend it.

12oz bottle via trade with Sregnar35 - Thanks Bill! Pours black with a short brown head. Aroma is toffee and chocolate. Flavor starts off very much the same way sweet and rich. A nice slightly sour finish makes this one memorable. On the palate it is medium bodied and coats the mouth well. Just a touch on the watery side though. I couldn’t find a hint of teh 8.3% in this one. Pretty nice beer.

Bottle. Pours thick with a thin brown head. Black. Rich toffee, cocoa aroma. Big in body. Tart, malty, fruity, oily. A little chalky.

Draft at the Harrisburg brewfest. Pours dark brownish red. Thick beige head on it. Smells yeastier than I’d hoped. Sweet smells, too -- dried fruit esters. FLavor is very sweet, but the body is watery. Too thin, even for a porter. The sourness is a nice touch, but this beer can’t keep up with itself -- too much alcohol, too little body.

This is one of my favorite beers. Great thick, strong beer that will exceed expectations. Very enjoyable last beer of the night type.
