Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Bottle as shown: Brown/black pour, tan fully diminishing head, left looking like flat coke. Aromas of rich sweetness (plums, raisens). Flavor was of sweet malts, watery bitterness and sourneses, some alcohol warming as well.

Strong porter with a somewhat profound lactic twang to it...which adds balance in place of the bitterness it is lacking...lots of dark malt too...Pretty enjoyable beer overall.

Bottle. Black in color, with nice tan head. Aroma is roasty and has a sweet smell. Taste is fine until the sugar flavor comes in. I wonder if they added dextrose to get the abv up. Whatever happened, it kind of messes up the end of the beer. Other than that it is okay, and the high amount of alcohol is not very noticeable.

Bottle. Complete ebony in color with a substantial tan head. Aroma is filled with mocha and nutty notes. Definitely notes of fruit in there somewhere as well....possibly grapefruit? Goes down like oil....not very drinkable at all, but really tasty.

A solid black appearance with a tan head. A sour grape and chocolate aroma. The flavor also contained some sour grapes, mild hints of chocolate, and some tobacco. A good deal of alcohol detectable in the aftertaste. Overall it was pretty good but nothing I would want to drink on a regular basis.

12 oz bottle, snifter. Black-brown hue with a brown, creamy head. Chocolate, coffee, anise, roasty, tar aroma with sublte floral notes lofting through. Prunes and walnuts are added in the flavor. H. sweet, l. acidic flavor becomes a m. sweet, l. acidic, l. bitter finish. Medium-full body, oily texture, moderate carbonation. The bottom lilne is: German Chocolate Cake!!!

motor oil pour, at first nice chunky head, looked like tan oatmeal, that dissapates very quickly to almost nothing. very earthy aroma’s. musky with some slight spice and chocolate hints. not as heavy as i would have imagined. nose is much more complex than the taste. smokey malt taste with warming alcohol presence with a slightly bitter finish. nice beer no doubt, but left me wanting more.
