Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Ebony/Mahogany pour supporting a medium brown head with good lacing. Roasted malt, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and alcohol in the aroma but the overall aroma was more subtle than expected. That’s where the subtleties ended - Big roasty malt, smoke, caramel, coffee and more chocolate in the falvor. Finish was one of the best I’ve ever tasted in a porter - clean but long lastng with a wonderful mellow chocolate flourish. A little more body in the mouthfeel would have made this a real classic, but as it is, it’s a great porter.

Black, robust, and flavourful. Aroma and flavour are dark chocolate and nuts. Coffee and a citrus hop in the finish. A surprisingly good porter. Thanks Brooklynboy for sharing.

Black color with a very thin tan head. I only got the head by pouring fast. With a normal pour I doubt this would have a head at all. Aroma is huge with a very heavy mix that smells more like a big imperial stout. Chocolate alcohol and hop aromas all come through clearly with lots of others jumbled in there. The mouth feel is exceptionally smooth and creamy. Flavor is dark bitter chocolate with plenty of roast. The aroma is the real exceptional part of this beer, but I don’t know that its good. It’s just very different and complex. 8/3/7/4/16
<\br> RERATE: This beer is a mess. The color is appropriate black. The head is only evident with an aggressive pour. The aroma is intense fruity and winey notes. It could have been nice, but the aroma is very tart and sour. Not what I want in a baltic porter. The flavor matches the aroma. Its a big jumble of sour and roast. Very odd. The mouthfeel is beautifuly smooth and creamy. Perfect feel. Overall I think this was a wonderful beer that went astray. Clean up the sour stuff. Its hiding the quality within.

Pours a solid black with a small head. Smells strongly of chocolate and rosey hops. Tastes strongly of chocolate and caramel with no noticeable bitterness. Very malty and smooth with a tangy aftertaste. Very good.

A good one from New Joizey. Pours almost jet black with a small brown head. Aroma holds dark chocolate, cirtus, nuts, malt, some coffee. Full bodied, very low carbonation, good robust mouthfeel. Flavor was rich and rewarding. Chocolate malt, coffee, with a touch of light citrusy hops. Excellent.

Its not a porter, its an Imperial porter. That pretty much saves this beer. Light malts and chocolate (bitter) in the nose and taste. Just a tab of hops that adds a little bit of veggie spice to it Pretty good, give this a try if you can get your hands on this one. Thanks go out to edward (brooklynboy) for sharing this beer with us.

Dark black color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and roasty malt. A medium to full bodied Imperial Porter. Malts are chocolate, fruity and sweet. Slightly spicy hops. Nice dark chocolate flavors. Sweet and smooth. Nice balance between the sweetness and the roastiness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
