Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Very dark ruby/brown, black if you will, with a medium sized and colored tan head. Vinous aroma along with some alcohol, vanilla and a bit of roast. Flavor was pretty sweet, some rum, cherry, followed by some coffee dryness. The body was a touch light and the alcohol was a bit much for a beer barely over 8%. All in all, pretty nice. Thanks for sharing, rudolf.

Bottled: Red/brown coloured. Coffee, roast and some chocolate in the aroma. Fruit, chocolate, roastyness and coffee in the flavour. Is light bitter in the end. The beer lacs a little in debth and fullness, but nevertheless its quite good. Thanks SpringsLicker for trading.

Creamy, tan head with very tight bubbles. Black, opaque brew, full-bodied. Strong flavored lots of coffee and chocolate. Good aftertaste. My first baltic porter. reminiscent of a good imperial stout. This is a Heavyweight champ!

Dark brown ruby red, light oily head, no lacing. Nose of peppery roast, egg nogg, chocolate, sweet note. Tastes sweet, watermelon sugar, floral hops. Finishes salty, peanuts, smoke (werchestershire). Good, balanced.

Grapelike, wine aroma, very sweet, like Kool-Ade. Very dark crimson with little light. Sweet and syrupy flavor, some cocoa, some wine, some roasty malts. A little flat on the mouth. Nice, bitter finish. Good brew.

Bottle, Much anticipation, heard a lot about this one. Poured dark, so dark no light from my computer screen goes thru it. Tan head, fluffy and creamy. aroma of fresh roasted coffee, and hops. Also some chocolate as well. Woe, the mouth feel is full, but not heavy. Roasted malts transition well into hops. The after taste is sour, but not unpleasant. There is just enough carbonation, and the dry finish is outstanding. Great!
