Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Pours attractive deep caramel with nice tan head. The nose is sweet fruits, soy and a touch of cereal. The flavor goes way soy and sticky sweet.

Aroma is sweet dark fruits, lots of coffee and dark malts. Taste is slightly sour, dark malts, very low bitterness. Finishes somewhat clean with coffee and maltiness. Nice

bottle graciously provided by beerbill... pours a hazy dark brown topped by a dense spongy tan head which sticks around for a while and leaves spotty lacing. aromas of chocolate, whole coffee beans, dark dried fruit, wood and something red wine-like... a bottle sitting without a cork for a day to oxidize and open up. the flavor is really rich and malty... chocolate/sweetened cocoa, light yeast, coffee and prunes without the sugar content. lightly tart dry finish with a huge aftertaste of whole coffee beans tucked in my lip. medium body seems a bit thin from the acidity and soft carbonation. i’m floored that this is still in good shape... it must have had a loving home for many years. even though it is past it’s prime and slightly oxidized, it is still better than (baltic thunder)...

black with tan head. unique flavor with a lack of the traditional chocolate malt predominance of a porter and more appearance of crystal and the lighter malts. a strong alcohol component and an overall very nice and unique porter

Courtesy mcbackus, first brew of Merritt Island Throwdown. Dark brown color, dense thin tan head. Powdered cocoa aroma, slight licorice, a bit of alcohol. Slight heat on the taste, sweet roastiness, a bit too much alcoholic apparent in the taste for 8%. Chalky texture.

Courtesy mcbackus. Pours light brown with a light bubble presence. Looks to be medium bodied. Smells of a big malt presence, some sweet fruits, and a little caramel. Touch of oxidation was noticeable seemingly due to its age. The flavor had a good bit of tartness to it which sealed its fate that some oxidation had definitely set in. Still had some decent chocolate and roast flavors alive and kicking though and wasnt a total loss. Still drinkable, but well past its prime. Shame Ill never get to try a fresh bottle of this.
