Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Small head, very dark brown. Malty, roasty aroma. Very sweet. Medium body. Taste is quite chocolately and just a little sour. Pretty good.

I was so excited to find this in my local Whole Foods after wanting to try it for so long. This poured out an opaque black with a tall rocky tan head. As the head gradually died down sheets of lace were left across the glass. Scents of roasted malt, coffee and a backing of earthy hops tones rose from the glass. The taste is rich with dark chocolate and malt roastiness. The sweetness is balanced out by a bitter coffee taste that brings it all together and lingers for a bit in the after taste. This is about medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Drinkability is great as this went down smoothly and I could drink these all day ABV permitting. Well I was definitely not disappointed with this and plan on keeping some in the fridge at all times.

This stuff is awesome. Black with some ruby tint, heavy, pillowy dark tan head. Smoky malt, coffee, alcohol, and tobacco. Flavor is the same with an added touch of burnt wood. Slightly sweet and smoky finish with vanilla. Thick, chewy, solid body. Great from start to finish leaving nothing out. Smooth and silky. If you can get it stock up.

Fairly dark colored and thick head. The body black and absolutely no light penetrates. The aromas are enticing. Coffee beans, vanilla and deep malts. The taste is very full with coffee and tobacco. After drinking you also get some cocoa and a little bit of apples in the finish. A very nice solid, yet restrained beer. I appreciate the style more with an example like this. Very drinkable with a coffee finish.

An interesting brew - it’s kind of like a porter...plus. In other words, it was good. Had a very nice deep brown (almost black) coloring and slightly sweet aroma.

Black, thin brown head. Milk Chocolate / cocoa aroma. Rich palate, with just a hit of carbonation. Coffee, chocolate and a hit of rasins, and an ever-so-slight hop bite. Thanks Secret Santa (for #900!)

Pours a very dens, almost black colored beer with a small brown creamy froth. Overpowering aroma’s of cold expresso coffee, cocoa, chicoree, burned caramel, cinnamon stick and chocolate bread. It has a very powerfull taste with a oily mouthfeel. The taste of this outstanding Porter is very massive and elegant at the same time, it brings outspoken roasted and burned accents like black expresso coffee, chicoree, creme brullee and pieces of burned wood from an open fire. But it has also has fine and elegant touches of fruits, like fresh grilled figgs with honey, top quality dried dates and a refreshing touch of orange marmalade, that brings a distinctive fresh biitterness in this great brew. WOW this is a real mind-blower. Huge thanks go’s to EYEDRINKALE for making this outstanding choice.

On tap at Fire Water’s AC....had it before in bottle, but decided to rate the tap version. Pours out a nice dark black color with a decent sized frothy brown head. It has an interesting aroma of roasted malts and coffee. The taste is very interesting with flavors of roasted malts, chocolate and some bitterness. Great Brew....NJ Pride!
