Commercial Description:
A Baltic porter brewed in collaboration with Lew Bryson. This style is difficult to find outside of the Baltics. What a shame! The grist consists of lots of Munich malt and some chocolate and other specialty malts. A Bavarian lager yeast is used to create this. Dark and mysterious, subtle and well, it is called the Hammer. For those who care, Perkuno was the Baltic thunder god.

Pours black with a dark brown to reddish hue around the edges. Medium brown frothy head. Aroma is steeped in coffee and dark chocolate. Faint hops and a hint of licorice make their way into the mix as well. Taste is much the same as the aroma. Very rich taste of coffee and dark chcolate with some definite roasted notes and a hint of licorice. Creamy mouthfeel with a slightly oily edge. Some carbonation sharpness as well. Finish is slightly bittered and leans more towards the coffee side of things. Damn good beer!

[draft - 10th Annual PA Microbrewers Fest, Pennsylvania Brewing Co. - Pittsburgh, PA] Pours a dark black with a thick tan head. Strong aroma of chocolate and coffee with a hint of vanilla and cherry. Initial coffee taste that mixes well with the creamy flavor of the head and the sweet in the body to give a bitter, chocolaty backbone and a nice warm, roasted finish. Extremely creamy mouthfeel, especially when combined with the head. Very delicious.

Black with dark brown lasting head, as well as great sheets of brussels lace. chocolate & coffee aromas, hints of vanilla. Light bodied but bold in taste, lactic, milky and very creamy. Finish boasted some strong coffee bean dryness. A little less complex and bold as Southamptons similar but slightly superior "imperial" porter.

Pours a tall creamy tan head on a pitch black body. Nice full aroma with tones of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, liquorice and smoke. Flavor is dominated by smoke, coffee and bitter chocolate and has an underlying sourness. Very full and delicious.

Dark black opaque beer with a dark moka head. Aroma of cold coffee, and porto with light hops. Warm alcohol and sweet chocolate hits the tongue in first attack, follow with lactic tartness, nuts, and anda nice hops finish, with choclate remaining. Nice bodied porter whihc was from the Maibockaddict himself. Thanks Dave.

Very dark brown (almost balck), opaque, with a medium-sized beige head. The aroma was full of espresso, milk chocolate, roasted nuts, and a slight smokiness. The flavor was full and round with coffee, roasted nuts, caramel, slight floral hops bitterness, and a huge smokey aftertaste. The feel was very crisp, a tad bit thin, with a semi-dry finish. Thanks to WillBlake for this excellent brew.

Pours deep deep almost opaque brown with a minimal brown head with decent lacing. Aromas of molasses, straw and roasted barley. Flavors of cocoa and chocolate and a little espresso. The mothfeel is medium bodied, and the flavor disapates quickly on the palate.
