I had a few bottles freshly brewed, unbelievable!
A big winner from the brewers at Heavyweight.
If this isnt their flagship, it should be.
Dark, heavy, little head. Burned chocolate/coffee finish.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2004 Deep brown and black, lasting tan head. Nose of dark chocolate, berry, and roasted coffee. Taste is quite malty, some citric hops to balance, with additional notes of coffee, cream, caramel, hint of smoke, chocolate, and tart berry. Full bodied, soft carbonation, bitter chocolate coffee finish. Heavyweight is "just that" in the brewing world. Awesome for the style. Shadrach (176), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 18, 2004 Poured with a very thick "oatmeal" like head with an aroma that was strong enough to be effective over a foot from the glass. Aroma was complex with sweet caramel chocolate spice cinammon. Coloring was caramel red/brown with a very creamy head. Taste was a rich dark caramel with overtones of chocolate and cream. One of my new favorites. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

Smells like straight up espresso. Smooth all the way through. Creamy milk stout taste. Light, airy and smooth finish. I love this beer. I would have this beer rated hiher if the stuff was more stable or consistant Cheers!!! HighlanderOne (546), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2004 A very hardy brew. Malt dominates the aroma and flavor, with a kinda wood-like flavor as well, as if kept in an oak barrel. A bit harsh on the feel, but maybe that's how a Porter should be. The alcohol was nicely masked, even at the finish. unclebleen (620), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2004 Pours a very dark brown color with a very small tan had. Lacing is minimal. Aroma is roasted malt paired with some alcohol notes. Flavor is toasty and burnt chocolate. Also tasted some nice sweet malt dark fruitiness. Body is full and creamy, pretty much perfect for the style. This is definitely one of the better porters I have tasted. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2004 Black body with a thin head. Aroma of black patent and thats about it. Very sour for the style with some coffee notes. The more I drank the more I liked it but it really has way too much black patent. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2004 12 oz bottle-pours a very dark hue for a porter, almost stout like. very little head and carbonation on my sample. chocolate, smoke and dark fruit on the aroma. flat palate, but thats true to the style. slightly thin body, but flavors were all pretty good. thanks to Erway for bringing this one to the gathering.
