Commercial Description:
This one was inspired by Fantome's Black Ghost and Pizza Port's SPF8. It's deep brown in color and the combination of roast and tropical fruit flavors are strange but effective. It's hopped with English Goldings and Saaz and fermented with three Belgian yeast strains. ~6% Brewed: Feb.17 Bottled:

750ml Bottle. Pours dark brown with a large off-white head. Aroma of roast, dark fruit, citrus, and spices. Flavor is carbonated, citrus, spices, roast, and sourness. Good body, good brew.

750ml bottle. Highly unusual aroma, featuring some loamy, musty aspects, mild but distinct sour funkiness, roasty, semi-sweet chocolate malt notes, a certain vague, tangy, non-descript fruitiness (but in a good way) that seems to lean towards black cherry, with lighter suggestions of black olive, dill, light herbal tones and mild spiciness underlying it all. I must have sat and took the aroma in for a good 20 mins. before I brought myself to actually taste this stuff. Semi-opaque ebony color with a lasting, foamy, light tan head and thick lacing. Flavor features a similarly bewildering array of characteristics. There’s some chocolate and caramel sweetness, black, bready, roasty malts, some cedary woodiness, and that tart, funky fruitiness that contributes notes of blood orange, blueberry and red grape (turning a bit winey) and a certain cobwebby yeast profile that blends late with mildly peppery alcohol. Soft, effervescent palate with a medium body. Very different and tasty creation, so sad to see Heavyweight go. Thanks Chris!

750 mL, capped bottle: Large, airy light brown bubbles...growing out of the bottle and glass...the bubbles expend to an even greater size and then burst. Deep black garnet coloured body. Deeply toasted dark rye and yeast aromatics, with charcoal and red grapes mixing in subtle harmony. Creamy, dark chocolatey texture with a lively finish. Iron and limestone basement flavours. As it warms, the palate becomes tingly, close to fizzy. Rich, toasted rye grains and hints of black pepper. This one has held up wonderfully...I sure hope that this is not the last Heavyweight beer I will have...

A very nice showing from a brewer I need to try more of. Poured a nice cloudy brownish color with some amber hues, very large head, and fantastic lacing. The aroma was a bit funky, some yeast, along with citrusey type fruits, and light spicing. Flavor was similar with some roasted chocolate and a noticeable wheat base. Mouthfeel was moderately bodied. Very nice finish w/ detectable finishing hops.

Thanks to csbosox for sharing this one. After we go the gusher under control, the beer that ended up in my glass was dark brown with a light brown head that left behind some good lace. The aroma was chalky, burnt caramel with some background barnyard character. The flavor was of milk chocolate, some cooked sugars, a touch of lactic sourness. Indra and csbosox mentions some mushroom and potting soil character. Yeah, I can’t argue with that either. Medium body with a good dry finish, but a touch tannic. I have to toll you, this is one of the most interesting beer I’ve had in a very long time.

Black pour with a thick tan head with excelllent retention. Smelled like wine, dark fruits and roasted chocolate. Very smooth taste with some orange and citrus in the mix. The chocolate is quite effective in the aftertaste. Smooth palate with a good sourness. Very good.

Bottle, Max’s on Broadway. Thanks to jeffin7 for the sample. Foam slowly erupts from the top of the bottle. Pours black/brown with hugh, super carbonated, tan head. Lasting cover, nice lacing. The aroma is some cherry, herbal, medicinal, a touch of vinegar, some roast. The flavor is roast, chocolate, cherry, pepper and herbal. The mouthfeel is sparkling.
