| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 30, 2006 Pours black with an out-of-control head that lasts ages. Aroma has nice sour fruitiness that matures as it warms into a very nice sourness backed up by pale malts and a touch of yeast. Taste is supreme and overwhelmingly complicated, sliding through seemingly every type of beer taste with ease... sour, fruit, malt, roast, yeast, hops... it touches them all, though has a nice funky sourness throughout. All this is highlighted by a perfect mouthfeel that is balanced, slightly light thickness, and a long lasting though not overbearing nor cloying sweetness. freekyp (901), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA

Light bodied, the aroma is full of roasted malts, while the flavor is a mix a sour Flanders-style attenuated by a sweet burnt malt character. Somewhat like a dark chocolate-covered cherry, this is a wholly unique brew. I don’t think I could drink more than one of these at a sitting, but it is interesting. jcwattsrugger (5525), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Murky brown body and a big foamy beige head that left thick lacing. Aroma of sour plums, yeasty dark bread, and some acetic acid. Flavor is tart but doesn’t strike me as infected. Includes interesting notes of chocolate, cherries, sour dark fruits, and lots of yeast. A decent, interesting beer. Lubiere (4536), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Lacing white head. Nose is of Chocolate, earth(I guess damp soil and moss). bitter and caramel. And raisins. Sweet in the mouth. It has that 7up-ness. Along with citrus, raisins and plums. Sweet and bitter, portlike. And my favorite of the four. Complex and yet melded so well together. blankboy (3212), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 31, 2005 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of jerc. Pours a murky dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark fruit, malt, yeast and a mild sourness. The flavour was not very good, it tasted off and had a very unpleasant sourness to it. Thin bodied. Based on all of the other reviews it’s starting to look very likely that we had a bottle that was off. Given the opportunity I will have to rerate.
