Commercial Description:
This one was inspired by Fantome's Black Ghost and Pizza Port's SPF8. It's deep brown in color and the combination of roast and tropical fruit flavors are strange but effective. It's hopped with English Goldings and Saaz and fermented with three Belgian yeast strains. ~6% Brewed: Feb.17 Bottled:

750 from Dorwart. This little monster made a mess when the cap came off, quite a bit of it went down the drain. Dark brown with a HUGE head. The head was too big, if you ask me. A lot going on in the nose but the mustiness (as like any good saison) is the most noticeable. There’s also leather, toffee, chocolate and fig. Medium bodied with a dry and smooth finish. In fact, it’s not as dry and more smooth than I had expected. This plays well with every region of the tongue. A chocolate and malty sweetness greets the tongue in the front. It becomes slightly roastiness presents itself about midway. And a bretty and tart berry dryness hits the back of your throat. A very enjoyable and very drinkable brew. Thanks Jason for the bottle!

Bottle. Deep brown (near black) in colour, think long lasting beige coloured head. The aroma was of very light yeast, slightly sour, some must and dark ripe fruits. The flavour was pretty weird, sour, unsweetened apple sauce, plums and grapes. Bizarre sour mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes very quick, dry. Did I like it? I have no idea.

Dark brown hue with a nose best described as funky. A very sour, puckery flavor that appealed to me much more as I kept drinking it. The flavor is complex and much more appealing than the nose. Like its inspirations though, this beer doesn’t interest me, although it is a quality product.

Deep muddy black with a tan and foamy head, leaving formidable lacing throughout. Aroma is ripe with prunes, figs, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and rosemary. The strangest orchestra has assembled but I’m liking their aromatic tune. Flavor continues the complexity. A breaching sourness is quickly interceded with chocolate and nutmeg. Prunes, plums, black cherries and raisins impart a tart dimension with sweetening coming from beets and candi sugar. A little slick and light on the palate but nothing to lose ground on. Complex indeed, finishing like Raisin Bran sprinkled with brown sugar and an extra heap of raisins. Funky, unique and excellent. Big thanks for the big bottle, tpkenned!

Bottle thanks to Dorwart. Pour is black with a reasonable cream head on top. The aroma is slightly roasted chocolate, slightly spicy and slightly sweet. Very subtle and very complex. The palate comes off very well, slightly bitter. Flavor has a vegetable feel to it. There is more to there, much more. It leaves a sweet natural flavor that is just great. Slight notes of anise and banana also come out in time. Really a good complex, and not overdone beer.

Big bottle. Great variation on one of my favorite styles. Black and fruity ale, a hint of roasted/burnt malt. Earthy and bready finish.

beer pours a ruby-tinted brown, with a tan head that retains well but leaves little lace. nose is quite interesting, with a tart, almost under-ripe pear-like fruitiness the first thing I smell, with the obvious dark malts leaving only a faint impression. flavor is tart and vinous, but not particularly acetic - a very interesting sour fruit tang, with some added tartness no doubt being a result of the roast malt bite. the dark malt starts to add some definate chocloate to the nose as the beer warms. unfortunately, as it warms it starts to get vinegar-y. the aftertaste also lingers in a really bad way.

black body, a little brown at the very edges. massive & overflowing foamy tan head with many dark brown patches. the foam kept seeping out of the bottle slowly for a long time, like the soap suds in the Brady Bunch washing machine episode. the head in the glass won’t stop!! aroma is great - nice funky yeast, a little sweat, sweet cherry, cocoa, caramel malt, cinnamon?? very high carbonation, mouthfeel goes creamy quickly. big clinging ledges of foam & lacing that defy gravity at the top of the glass. flavor starts dry, goes tart, then sour. sweetness in the middle, sour dry yeasty finish. I might like this better than the Black Ghost, don’t mean to diss Dany! as an FYI, those of you who had "bottle #54" it’s not the brewer but Somerville Super Saver NJ’s code for the cashiers. which means you got your bottle from a NJ trade.
