Commercial Description:
This one was inspired by Fantome's Black Ghost and Pizza Port's SPF8. It's deep brown in color and the combination of roast and tropical fruit flavors are strange but effective. It's hopped with English Goldings and Saaz and fermented with three Belgian yeast strains. ~6% Brewed: Feb.17 Bottled:

Almost black w/ a small light brown head. Aroma is yeasty (musty cobwebs), fruity (sour cherry), malty (caramel, chocolate), roasty & herbal (lemon grass, flowers). Smooth carbonated feel. Flavour is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, & lightly bitter. A funky yeastiness remains in the background making this an eminently quaffable brew.

pours a watered down black with a tan head. tart acidic coffee aroma. a depth of aroma is here. malty as hell, the feeling from the group is in agreemaent with nuffield, that this is like a malty schwazbier. coffee , lime, tart and sweet. it is different. chocolate is here in the finish too, very interesting. thanks to richlikebeer for this

Medium brown, light brown head. Strange aroma of a vast complexity level that somehow doesn’t help it. Let me explain, I first notice licorice-like rooty aspects that could be associated to a stout or dark belgian, but when the ginseng and ginger reminiscent flavors gets added to the melting pot, I feel a bit lost. The rich malt of course provide dark berries and dark chocolate complexities and I’ve just not sure how well it works when the woodiness and dark dryish malts combine with the rather sour, tart sourdough aspects. It is indeed quite tart for all that licorice and fruitiness, almost balsamic at times. Simultaneously, the yeast procures lots of little nuances, though it cuts through the sweetness briliantly. A very hard beer, I still don’t know how I feel about this one, it may just have been that this light-medium bodied as best with insufficient carbonation did influence my scores for the worst.

Its a geezer!! This baby cut loose upon opening, foam just keeps climbing out of the bottle. Seriously large light brown head that lasts, sits atop an almost black bodied brew. Nose is lightly barnyardy masked by co2. Body is light to medium, carbonation is brisk to say the least. Dry malt flavors, dark fruits, lightly sour with faint chocolate notes appearing. Mouthfeel turns creamier, slicker as the bottle emptys and the carbonation settles. Light yeastiness and doughy notes showing as it settles down. Finish is fairly dry. Sorry, i,ll take the Golden over this anyday!

(Rating #230)

Cola brown/black color with a tannish colored head. Toasty, along with some darker fruit, dried cocoa, mild funkiness. It’s an interesting thing they have going here and I dug it for the most part.
