Very dark ale with a mid-sized, frothy, well-tanned head. Good retention. Yeasty, Flemish nose with notes of chocolate, plum, light coffee, pineapple and horseblanket. Well-balanced flavor delivers plenty of semi-sweet chocolate and lemon with lesser notes of red wine and wet leather. Medium-bodied and lightly oily with lively carbonation. Finishes crisp, tart and dry. Sregnar35 (732), Rotterdam, New York, USA

Much like a flemish sour, tasted like a sweetened vinegar. Couldn’t finish a whole bottle myself, but I’m glad I tried it. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA

Very sour palate, astringent, however drinkable. Strong citrus presence, I kept writing vinegar on my rating sheet. BuckNaked (1209), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2005 Bottle thanks to jeffin7: Dark brown, mostly opaque, with a small biege head that sticks to the side of the glass and lasts throughout the time I’m tasting this beer. Aroma is a bit barnyard funky at first, then shows pepper, sour yeast, light fruits, and hints of chocolate and roast. I dive in. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, barnyard, lemon, herbs, and leather with plenty of acidity. This strange mix of roasted/chocolate and acidic/citrus & sourness really works well. Corps d’épaisseur mince à semi mince, faible carbonatation, finale exposant l’amertume des levures. rudolf (1786), Buffalo, New York, USA

Deep brody body with an attractive off-white head. Very pineapple, orange, a bit of funk, pepper. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Taste-highly acidic, citric, coffee, chocolate, and straw. Very odd mixture of citric acid, tannins, coffee, malt, dark fruit, and chocolate touch of smoke as it warms. Mouthfeel loses points for the stinging acidity.
