I had difficulty rating this as the style was different than anything else I’ve had. My wife really liked them, but this is my account. Cloudy orange and gold color. The aroma had a fruity sweet/tartness to it (raspberry, orange, other fruit?) The flavor was lightly sweet and definitely tart. Lemons were the dominant fruit flavor although there were others. Other tastes I noted were wheat/biscuit grain and perhaps some grassiness/hay. The body was somewhere between creamy and crisp. Medium body overall. Interesting. Aroma of ginger, bread (but not gingerbread, oddly)Big citrus flavors up front, especially lemon. Nice, but seems to lack the complexity of the Black. 750 ml. champagne style bottle. Capped, but no cork. Decent pfftt when opened. Poured out a hazy, orangish yellow color, with a huge, but thin white head. Kind of soapy consistency for the head. Aromas are of yeasty bread right out of the bottle. Classic Belgian funk, some Brettanomyces, slight mustiness as well. Slight vanilla aromas from the sweet woodruff. Tart, dry, medium mouthfeel. Dry, chalky finish. More spices than malts. Decent Saison style beer. goldtwins (4080), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2005 A very odd aroma with some light citrus, hay, vinegar, and a flinstone vitamin bottle. A dark orange appearance. A very well balanced flavor and so much so it was hard to pick it apart. Some lemon and white grapes could be detected. A pretty good one. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2005 750ml bottle thanks to hopdog: Mostly clear pale to golden yellow at first with a large, frothy white head. Towards the last 1/3 of the bottle the becomes near opaque with more of an amber orange tint to the yellow (yeast from bottle conditioning). Aroma: mostly subtle, stale grass, sweet hay, herbs, honey, bitter wheat, dried straw, mild lemon, white grapes, and a hint of cowbwebs or vinegar. Taste: Starts with a refreshing and crisp taste of acidic sweet wheat, then gets lightly tart with notes of lemon, chamomile, pineapple & orange, dusty straw, mild cheese and a hint of sweet malt hidden in there. Light to medium bodied, very crisp medium to spritzy carbonation, quite dry throughout. Finishes dry with light spicy/grassy hops, sweet lemon rind, and a bit of honey further out. Very nice palate and balance.
