| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2008 Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Sunny golden look; a spotty scattering of thin white on the surface and a gathering around the rim. Sweet, dusky apple aroma; warm in general with lots of baked fruit smattered with brown spices and simmered in brown sugar; gentle swirls tend to produce funky wafts of mildew and rainy earth, though these are short lived, quickly retreating back.
A lovely, warm, perfumey musk and fruit flavor. Reminiscent of saffron. Pears, cotton candy, grassy earth, and floral honey notes, all aged and musted over, but never seeming heavy or dull. The liveliness of those flavors rather replaced by an warm, doughy density still somewhat nuanced. Flowers. Generally juicy fruit sweetness that seems canned, though it never seems cheap given the rich spice powdering throughout.
Effervescent, gentle mouthfeel; medium bodied and layering a generous yeasty silk. Finishes softly with powdered sugar and syrup, some pear and nutmeg. Delicate, whimsical example well aged. Thanks Ryan! ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Cloudy light gold body, pillow white head. Nose is faint spice & yeast, some light hay malt, a little fruit. Flavor is slightly (very slightly) tart, muddle fruit & yeast. Spices are faint but add a hint of dryness. Perhaps this one was past it’s prime. pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Much thanks to Eclectic for this, only Saison de la Soeur I had left to try...Pours out a nice slightly hazy golden color with a moderate foamy white head. Aroma is of some sweet malts, yeast and some funky spice notes. Taste is complex and refreshing with a crisp , dry finish. Some sweetness throughout with a good balance of sour citrus notes, yeast and some funk. Slight touch of spice in there too, but I can’t place exactly what it is...maybe its that Sweet Woodruff the description speaks of. Held up very well, wish I would have had more of it. yobdoog (1502), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Aroma is sweet and sour with a little funk, and some tart fruit essence. Taste is sour fruit from cherry, peach, orange zest. A little funk hidden away is nice too. Very crisp and nice. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2007 750mL bottle shared by Jimmack. Lots of talk that his has gone downhill too much but fortunately this is a bottle Jimmack has kept in his basement all this time and doing rather fine. It has seems to already reached its apex but still a very enjoyable brew. Aroma is full on thick aged biscuit maltiness. Then some faint wild touches and a bit of grape skin. But definitely feels old. Taste is a bit mineral with faint wild/sour touches again and a sweet pear flavor. The color is a completely murky golden, cannot see through it. Probably the 2nd best HW Saison holding up at this point. cbkschubert (2013), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
