| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2006 Cloudy straw colored pour with plenty of yeast and lots of white fluffy head. Aroma is peppery, hinted hops, and mild citrus. I like what HW has done with this series, really plays up each unique experience of flavor and aroma. Very light spice in the taste with hops coming through more in the finish. Lots of carbonation that hides some of the subtleties, but overall a very nice saison. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2006 Bottle at Seatle gathering. Light amber colored with a touch of haze. Adequate whiteish head and moderate lacing. Aroma has a yeasty presence with a touch of spice. Moderate earthy hop notes. Lighter bodied, effervescent. Spicey flavors with modest yeast. Decently done. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2005 Pours a hazy amber with an average off white head. Smells fruity with some grape, peach, apple and rasberry buttery notes. There’s also an element of cobwebs present. The hops are there in the taste, but in a way unique to what I’ve had before. They can best be described as blood oranges bathed in rose petals and accompanied by a freshly cut lawn. Finish is slightly bitter with some of the same hoppy qualities present. hopscotch (5510), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 16, 2005 Bottle... Murky, orange ale with a million floaties and a big, frothy, off-white head. Great retention. The nose is earthy and fruity, with notes of spiced apple, pear, butter cookies, tree bark and toffee. Well-balanced by an excellent and unique hop profile. Medium-bodied and watery with medium carbonation. Finishes a touch oily, barely tangy and lightly bitter. My least favorite of Heavyweight’s farmhouse quartet. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 16, 2005 This was definitely the best of the three Heavyweight Saisons that I tried. This had that same noble tingle hoppiness that I like in Hommel Bier. Cloudy amber with a good head. Strong, tingly noble hops, but this wouldn’t really be considered hoppy in an American style. Straw, dry malt followed by an assertive, but balanced bitterness. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2005 I wish i had a tecnical rating of this like shag but i dont so that makes me cooler. Cloudy burnt orange color goin on with a plain as grain hop floral aroma. A slight citrus bitterness followed by alot of floral hops. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2005 This one is probably my favorite of the series and a very different take on the style. A cloudy yellow appearance with a moderate head. A peachy herbal aroma (yes I just said peachy). The flavor has a yeasty presence with a moderate bitter flavor. A lot of citrus mainly grapefruit and herbal notes. A saison for someone who loves APAs. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2005 This was quite interesting. Had this at Kp’s this weekend. Don’t know who brought it. INteresting idea for the style. The aroma was more faint than the other saison de la soeur styles. The flavor brought out a whop of corriander, orange zest, lemonpepper, and a touch of hops. Not overdone which was nice. Balanced well. yeasty and malty flavors round this one out. Not as much fruity flavors or funk as i’m used to with my saisons. points for being different.
