Fresh cotton scent? Seemingly floral. Cloudy gold color. Light foaminess. Neat combo of pie crust, pastry dough, spice and light apricot fruitiness. Really light but full flavored. Mild tartness. Sublime. TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 20, 2005 Pure copper. White lathery foam intricately dots the glass. Aromatically rustic with peppery hops, lemon, and musty yeast. Touch of iron along with a full assortment of dried fruits. Spongy carbonation. Flavors unfold gracefully, yielding lightly gritty yeast notes chased by candied malt whispers which lend complementary depth to the appetizing herbal bitterness. Delectably snappy and herbal due to an artful showcase of vivacious yeast and hops, yet feathery soft and creamy with impeccable attenuation. Airy but immensely juicy with a bursting splash of passionfruit. Fruity yeast aspects unite with clover honey-drizzled biscuits to trigger a caramelized banana effect which continues to linger. Finishes remarkably integrated with a mist of dryness, as scratchy yeast notes underline a nuanced trail of white pepper, melon rind, and star anise. Kudos to Tom on another jewel of a saison. The guy sure knows how to work his yeast. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 16, 2005 This was definitely the best of the three Heavyweight Saisons that I tried. This had that same noble tingle hoppiness that I like in Hommel Bier. Cloudy amber with a good head. Strong, tingly noble hops, but this wouldn’t really be considered hoppy in an American style. Straw, dry malt followed by an assertive, but balanced bitterness. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Flavor is hoppy, malty and fruity. Very hoppy. Well balanced. Dry. Clean tasting. Enjoyable beer. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

The color is wheat colored, hazy and not that appetizing. Small white head. Aroma is spicey, black pepper, citrus, grassy and somewhat fruity sweet(like a melon). I love the hops, Saaz, Hallertauer and cascade are apparent to me. I will have to go out and try to get a handle on the flavors provided by the East Kent and Brewers Gold. Tangy finish. I look forward to sharing my next bottle of it with some RB friends. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA

Clear golden orange, with a real nice fluffy off-white head, and a neat stream of bubbles shooting up from the base of the Ommegang goblet. Piney spicy hoppy aroma, that is not too assertive and pleasantly allows some Belgian fruitiness to shine through. Flavor is big and malty, with a buttery note and plenty of flavor hops. Hoppiness lingers in the finish. A little like a Belgian IPA. Was not expecting to like this as much as the others, but I do. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

Murky golden-orange in color, with white head made of tiny bubbles. Musty-yeasty aroma with lemon-like flower hop character, orange zest and maybe some pepper. Flavor again was very floral with zesty fruit, slight sourness through the middle. Finish hsa a nice combo of pepper and hops. Very well done. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA
