I thought i was supposed to pour this beer on asian food from a look at the name. Very cloudy dark yellowish gold color. Yeasty lemony accent on the aroma. Very strange taste, it tasted alot like I was drinking cologne and eating pickles. Weird.

Poured a hazy dark yellow with a medium off-white head. Aroma was yeasty, tart, citrusy, with light spice, and a touch of leather. Flavor of crusty bread, some citrus, and spicy finish on the back of the tongue.

A murky orange appearance. A very warming beer than seems to have more alcohol in it than it really does. A big coriander and lime aroma. The flavor consisted of orange peels, caramel, some blend of spices. Its not bad in small quanities.

2005 bottle shared by SuIIy on 11/25/05 with JoshuaB and JoshuaH.
Pours an unfiltered, bronze-amber with light copper hues throughout. Perched atop is an off-white to beige colored foamy head, well-retained and creating plenty of lacing. Never dissipates completely. Tiny, natural carbonated bubbles rise lazily. Aroma gives off notes of fresh cut grass, dill, white pepper and a light dose of earthy, damp soil. Sweet almond cream, light bits of lemon-peel and vanilla with a large sweet doughiness that is very inviting. What really strikes me is the lack of spice, not your typical overly drying coriander/cardamon and thick, drying yeast. It is yeasty, but lightly so, and more delicate than most American saisons. The hops are gentle but very aromatic, giving a fresh green herbal and wet grass note.
Flavor begins with plenty of light caramel/pale malt sweetness, thick honey, juicy green hoppiness (sugar and herbs, spicy grass) and only light pepper and a touch of lemon-lime citrus. Throughout the flavor, the well-done yeast, which begins much stronger than the aroma would suggest, imparts dusty, not-quite sour-like notes, bits of acidic moments at best, which balance well against the ample, creamy-sweet body. Ends equally well-balanced as it begins, with leafy-dry herbs/spices never getting in your face. Carbonation is light, tight and adds just a touch more texture than the creamy malt sugars give.
I don’t understand why these appropriately-spiced saisons are the extreme minority in American brewing.

Pours a hazy, light amber, orange tinted color, which is topped by a frothy, two-finger thick, tan colored head. The aroma is earthy and yeasty in a fresh dough kind of way. The aroma also has notes of orange peel, caramel, cocoa and some sort of sweet smelling spiciness, which I can’t quite place. Is it clove (there are definitely some notes of this spice here), perhaps a hint of allspice, though I am not quite sure. Whatever, the aroma is pretty nice; on the sweet side, but not overly so, and it is quite inviting.

The beer is incredibly creamy, with quite a full body to it, especially for a Saison. With the full palate, there is a definite malt sweetness that makes me think of brown sugar. There is a rounded spice character here, which tries to balance the sweetness. I get spicy notes of muted ginger, clove, hints of pepper, orange and a hint of nutmeg. Whatever the mix of spices, it really reminds me of cocoa powder, could this actually be an ingredient?

This beer definitely has quite a bit more body and sweetness than many Saisons, but it makes it quite appropriate on this strangely chilly AZ evening (especially with the cocoa notes). This beer really has a certain richness to it that is not typical; keeps it from being light and quaffable but it is still quite enjoyable.

A deep hazy copper with foamy and creamy white head. Nose is yeast, pepper, and a good herbal earthiness. Taste is some light toasted grains and of course, a spicy pepper onslaught, but not overly so. Moderately bitter and acidic. Lively in the mouth. Solid.

750ml bottle from axilla...YEAH! Pours a dark dark orange color with a foamy white head. Nose is peppery and grassy. Some fruit is in the nose as well. Taste is more peppery and spicy, some light fruit and tartness, as well as some light, fresh hop notes in teh bitter finish.
